Enjoy being woken up at 3am when the train comes through.
They’re putting it there for this reason. Once the proposed new Amtrak route comes through it will stop there. Trying to revitalize before it arrives. Decent urban planning, for once
Nice forward thinking

I wondered the same thing about that last picture.

Friday Ellis has been doing heroic work, it's amazing to see how the city has begun reversing course under his leadership. It wasn't all that long ago that downtown was all but dead.
The location of the station is going to be right across the street from Doe's. Not bad.

Is that last pic an indoor pool or an unplanned flood?
I think it's a hi gloss ballroom floor.

Wonder how much the renovation cost?
A frick ton.

There was a really nice looking renovation of one of the buildings around there too (Vantage?). Monroe has potential in its downtown.

The wife and I love staying at places like this in small towns around here. The GunRunner in Florence, AL, the Flying 50 in Cullman, AL, the Elyton here in Birmingham. Cool, upscale, convenient, and not some cookie cutter bullshite.

Damn…I was hoping the reason was because they were bringing back the early 90’s version of Somewhere Else, I was gonna book a trip

My only experience with Monroe was stopping at a gas station to piss and finding that someone had taken a sideways shite in the urinal.

Has Amtrak cleaned up a bit? It's historically been a sty.

Great post. Monroe is doing just fine.

Everything about it screams, "forget you're in Funroe."
Texas sucks dick and will be Colorado soon with their influx of liberals, also North Louisiana is a better place to live and raise a family than Houston. Come at me, idgaf
