PRO....Without the union the drivers pay would be barely above minimum and without benefits. FedEx doesn't have a union but the driver pay is based upon the UPS number. It's still $10/hour less but without UPS union both are minimum wage jobs.

CON....Every useless piece of shite that should be fired can't get fired because they hide behind the union. Only way to get fired at UPS is get caught stealing. This is why service has consistently gone done over the years.

I deal with UPS daily and they do a great job overall. I feel for the drivers in the south with the heat and humidity. And those guys work all day. I'm in a busy industrial park where I believe the best drivers are. Every now and then we get one of the nuckleheads on his blue tooth constantly and that's when mistakes happen. There are particular drivers for UPS and FedEx and motor freight and USPS companies that are especially tiresome, mostly because of the constant blue tooth conversations they are having while trying to do my business. That's my only complaint.

Is this where you suggest that a vote for someone is an unequivocal endorsement of all their positions?

in my line of work they are responsible for, and continue to be responsible for safety regs, duty regs, and work with controlling regulatory agencies to help assure a system of checks and balances to try to ensure the safest operation possible, you're probably too young to remember 9/11, but my union, as well as a couple of others in the industry restored airline travel in this country, and had to lead the "management" of the airlines by the hand every step of the way because that wasn't covered at Wharton

I’m all for making as much money as the market will allow, but what skills do drivers possess that justifies anything more than $10-12/hr. Not being ugly, serious question. Thanks. I’ll hang up and listen. Thanks

Hopefully that business model has improved.

UPS guys aren't going to be delivering so my packages will be misdelivered and late?

Doesn't sound like their strike's going to change much.

Not at all. The idealism of old Union, however, protected Globalism.

Care to line graff that over time?

They're unnecessary and parasitic. I'm sorry you rely on them, because without them your salary would be commensurate with the value you bring.

If fast food workers established a union, demanded $15/hr and benefits, would you be in support of that?

NO where as easy as you might think. It is a physically demanding job. It will tear your body down over time. In the summer the back of the truck gets upward of 125 degrees. Mentally you have to think on your feet. You are under serious time constraints in the AM. A lot depends on your route...city, rural, business', or residential. It's by no means a 6 figure job but worth every penny of 75-80.

A clean record, satisfactory customer service, patience with the warehouse, traffic, and customers while working with a tight schedule, on-time and able to work independently throughout the day, in any weather. That is good for $100/day easy if I am UPS. Pizza boys probably get paid more for much less qualifications when the tips come in.

No, I have never worked for mail delivery
