From what I have heard the guy driving the truck struck the kids and was fleeing the scene and the cops when he wrecked the truck. No word on whether he was being perused by the cops before or after he hit the children walking to school

Yeah, the fire hydrant is knocked down in the "after" picture. Guess he hit that too. Probably caused some of that damage.
So sad for those children. They had the rest of their lives ahead of them.

I wonder where it actually happened and if he/she was travelling East toward the school; this time of year, the sun is in your eyes when travelling East at around the time school is starting.

I drive 750- 1000 miles a week on average. The shite I see on a daily basis would shock the casual driver. The thing that amazes me is how many drivers (disproportionately white males in pick up trucks-deal with it) drive as if the assumption is that no kids can be at bus stops, no cars can be on the shoulder ahead, etc. They never ANTICIPATE a worst case scenario and drive accordingly. I'm not sure if it's anger issues, low IQ, or both. I suspect that when we learn the facts this will be total negligence-complete nonchalance with the lives of children.
Drive down South Walker road or 1-10 South of Baton Rouge any day around 5 pm at the speed limit and count the assholes. It's just amazing, the sheer number of shitbags living out their Nascar dreams on the road.
