Confront them and stay on them. If they deny then threaten lawsuit. I'm sure they rather pay the 1k worth of damages then fight it in court.

Check the photos and tell me how something like that happens without me go rock crawling, jumping a curb or driving into one hell of a pot hole? That's not the type of damage that happens when a car is parked at the gym or work.

Running over something in the road while driving can cause this...like a piece of lumber (and no, it doesn't have to be a 2x4.)

Any reputable dealership will own up and repair any vehicle damage caused by an employee while vehicle is in their care. That's why dealerships carry insurance. When you go and talk face to face with the manager and you start acting like an arse, you will get nothing and then asked to leave. Trust me, the dealership will not go bankrupt if they lose your business. So, be level headed and mature about this situation when talking to the manager.

Yea, I'm sure they won't miss the 3 Accords they sold to his family in the last 14 years.

"about to get real"

It's real all right. This situation is all too common. Richard's has always treated you fairly and the one time a problem arises you blame them and throw all those good experiences in the crapper by blaming them before you speak to them like an adult.
You have disrespected them by coming here on a public forum and faulting them without speaking to them first. They have treated you well for years yet the first thing you do when a problem comes up is turn on them. You don't value your business relationship with Richard's or you would have given them a chance first.

By not blasting them on a public forum before speaking to them first and giving them an opportunity to rectify the situation.

Is the OP a woman?

Reason i ask is because i keep picturing a man, but then after each post i have to take away reason and accountability

This x 1000. I hate when people do this at my business.

Haven't read the thread but I know from working in dealerships, specifically franchise dealerships, that pretty much 100% of their property is going to have security cameras on it. I've sat on the sales desk with the other sales manager and used car manager laughing our asses off at the new porter who backed the $125,000 Ford GT into a flatbed in the service lot. We laughed, and also paid for damages. So you gotta go straight to the service director or manager, whoever runs the entire department, not a fricking service writer. Don't "raise hell" at first, seriously, tell them the facts as you know them and express your disappointment in how it's been handled. Emphasize your loyalty, which is mainly due to the service departments for most customers, and how you feel that the trust they've developed over almost 15 years of business has been all but destroyed by this. The onus is on them to make this right, by staying calm and reminding them that they're not just at risk of losing you as a customer but that you'll also actively recommend against them to others. Word of mouth advertisement is an almost daily discussion in managers meeting, i.e. CSI or Customer Service Index scores from surveys.

If by some incredible act of idiocy the issue isn't resolved with the service department head then the next step is the GM or Dealer Principle (dealers are notoriously difficult to "see")

Most important thing though, never mention a lawyer or retain one until you're sure they won't make this right outside of court. The protocol at most dealers is as soon as the word "attorney" is uttered to us in a Heat Case we shut it down and tell them to make any further contact with our legal department. So, that's not really a "play" as much as a last resort and it would blow me away if it came to that.

ETA: obviously request security footage, hell, request to sit and fricking watch it with them. They can fast forward until they see movement of the unit. Point there is let's prove they did it and, more importantly, who did it. Of course all of this post is assuming that the dealer is, in fact, at fault and that you didn't just hit something yourself

Great advice, but given the the way the OP is written, I don't predict success.

Should have called it to their attention ASAP.

Just go talk to the highest ranking manager you can and give them a chance to make it right.

If they don't that's when you go off on them.

You need to calm down man. You clearly are experiencing a lot of anxiety about confronting Richards and the rage you're displaying, before you've even talked to someone there, is a pretty telling sign that you've been taken advantage of in the past in other similar situations.

quote:

Just in case you attempt to say your anger is due to them damaging your car at all, that's not gonna fly since we see in the pics how well you take care of it already. You don't care about your old accord that much that you couldn't just politely approach the manager.

Develop some confidence and practice control of those emotions. It'll get you a lot further in life and probably save you some money too.

Listen to reasoning like this will definitely help you...my last 5 autos purchased have all been Honda Accords from Richards and any problems that I've had with sales or service have all been solved by talking with managers up the line to my satisfaction. They are not going to run business off just for the fun of it or to save a few bucks! If your complaint is not handled to your satisfaction, take your business elsewhere!

Their policy is to do a walk around inspection before the service is done. Ask to see this. If it wasn't done, or it doesn't state the damage on there, then you can get it fixed by them. Try this before you get pissy with them.

It's clear from the pics that the damage was done before the car got dirty (ie it's old damage). If it was fresh you'd have clean marks where whatever object hit your car.

Well, I hope that they have that walk around showing damage from when it was dropped off. You know why they put those protocols in place, CYA, and they may not have done it here

Theres some good advice in here. Stay calm, if you are correct and the damage was done there, they will most likely repair it, and without much hesitation. If you play your cards right, it probably won't matter whether or not you can prove it.

However, if someone at Richards Honda is an OTer and had read this thread already and told everyone up there to expect you today, you will have an uphill battle on your hands. You really should've waited to see if they denied your claim Before blasting them on an internet message board.accidents happen, we all know that, what is important is how they are resolved.

looks like someone lifted the car from the wrong spot.

I have seen friends do that to their own cars when changing tires.
