Baton Rouge police identified the man found in the backseat of a burned vehicle on Arkansas Street early Wednesday as 34-year-old Antonio Sterling of St. Gabriel.

Baton Rouge firefighters and police responded to a burned vehicle in the 1900 block of Arkansas Street near where the road turns into East Harrison Street. Police spokesman Sgt. L'Jean McKneely Jr. said Sterling, of 1690 St. Francis Lane, St. Gabriel, was found inside the vehicle around 4 a.m. Police confirmed that Antonio Sterling was related to Alton Sterling, the man fatally shot by a Baton Rouge police officer in July of 2016.
