I’m a tad worried about Twix(that’s what we named her.). She’s had a bit of diarrhea today since I got back from the vet but it doesn’t smell as foul as my internet research says it should if she has Parvo. She also just ate quite a bit so I guess that’s a good sign. Apparently lethargy, lack of appetite and bloody diarrhea and vomiting are the symptoms of Parvo.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this :( thank you for everything you’ve done for these babies.

I know it's been said a lot in this thread, but you are an awesome human being

Yeah bud I didn't mean anything negative towards you with the info I gave. I've just been through this a couple of times the past few years getting puppies for my daughter. I've gotten her 2 in the past 4 years that both came down with Parvo. It's really cool what you did and I imagine the original owners had one die and just tossed the rest so they wouldnt have to deal with it. Prayers for the ones that were picked up.
Make sure you clean everything they came in contact with and also don't bring any young dogs in your home for at least a year. The virus can live a very long time.

Thanks for that. It’s hard not to feel guilty though.
We still haven’t had the shelter get back in touch with us. We can’t abandon them so idk what we are going to do.

The condition of the pups is to no fault of your own.

Two of the pups had to be put down? frick

Don’t feel guilty. Thanks for everything y’all did. I wish we could have given aggressive treatment a chance, but the vet said it would cost up to $1000 just for a couple of days at the hospital, and that she could still die after coming home. It would be heartbreaking to my little boy.
I feel terrible and sad about today. Frick parvovirus, it’s like Ebola to dogs.
We are going to keep looking for a new puppy to adopt on rescueme.org.

I know. We have been ringing our local shelters off the hook for the past two days. I’m not sure if they get state funding to be some sort of rescue organization, but if so; I’ll gladly Provide a list of everyone of them that has not returned our calls, Facebook messages, or has just flat out turned us away because we don’t live in their municipality. It looks like our best option at this point is to do what we always do and take them down to the New Orleans ASPCA.

It’s been years since I’ve been around a puppy with Parvo but I remember the smell like it was yesterday.
It is the most vile smell you will ever experience.
Good luck & since it hasn’t been said enough, thanks to the OP for taking the pups in & everyone who adopted.

I'm sorry the girl you picked had parvo. Maybe one of the remaining pups is okay and you could adopt that one. My current dog is an adoption given to me by a patient whose pure bred lab got knocked up by a non-pure breed, and she is great.

Trust me, its a smell you will never forget and hope you never smell again. We had a 3yo present with parvo last week and I'm still trying to get the smell out of the iso room.
ETA: It would be ideal to get them all fecal tested for giardia et al if you haven't done so already.

Parvo can be beaten, it just can be expensive and time consuming if it's bad enough. Kudos to you for trying all that you have.

dude you've gone above and beyond
I'd shake your hand and buy you a beer if you saved one dog much less nine
if this is all that can be done bring them to the shelter
they'll have at least a tiny chance before they are mercifully relived of a shite situation they didn't ask for
you did good

Update on Stella & Pudge:
Which one is Stella?

Thanks bud.
The rest of the pups are going to be tested for parvo first thing in the morning.
I’m not sure if they’d want me to disclose who they are but another poster has offered to assist with paying for the parvo tests in hopes that one will be available for adoption. This person is truly selfless and I am in awe of just how great some people can be.
I’ve done everything I could to keep these pups alive, but Skeet, Geauxxx, and KellsBells have all stepped up hugely and gone out of their way to extend their homes to these girls. I’m hoping for the best possible outcome for the ones remaining to be tested.
I’m as big of a smartass on this board as almost anyone, and most days we all give each other a lot of crap. The support these past few days just makes me thankful to be a part of this weird community of anonymous cohorts.

TD, you and your wife are wonderful people. Thanks again for what you have done.
Pudge and Stella are improving each day. Pudge seems very healthy considering what she has been through. Stella's recovery has been slower but appears to be steady. Both girls are eating, growing more and more playful and busy just doing puppy things.
Geaux, I understand exactly where you are with what's going on with Twix. I won't be able to eat spaghetti in the near future:). Yesterday, Both Stella and Pudge got lethargic after the trip to the vet. Based on their deposits, I can't imagine the level of the "rumble in their tumble." This morning, both were bright eyed and bush tailed sweet little pups, ready to eat, play and explore.
At son's baseball game now, will post pics when I get home.

BTW, about parvo, try to keep them separated. Parvo can be transferred through feces and will last a long time. Study up on it.
