This is the first fatality onboard a Southwest aircraft due to an accident..in the company's history!

Probably a heart attack or shock.

Has anyone said it was the women that was sucked up to the window that died? From the pic of the window it doesn't appear there was any server trauma in that area, wonder if someones ticker gave out in all the commotion.

Lol pilot got us semi flying into Lafayette, fire in a engine or some shite. Emergency vehicles, fire trucks, sliding down the inflated slide...the whole nine yards.
Haven't gotten on a plane since and probably won't

The plane was 18 years old, which isn't terrible. It was one of the first 737-700s off the production line
FAA Registry
No telling when the last heavy maintenance check was made, I don't think they would go into the inner workings of the engine until a C or D check maybe every 4-5 years.
Southwest, Boeing, and Snecma/GE are all about to get McKernan'ed

Probably. Still hard to believe that the compressor housing let go. I was always under the impression that those were practically bomb proof from the inside. This one is totally fricked. It looks like someone went after it with a sawsall
Looks like the fan came apart, but not the compressor section.

I cannot imagine the fear going through those people in that picture. WOW!

They still haven't identified if the person who died is the woman was partially sucked out of the window.
Reports that there was blood everywhere, though.

Marty Martinez, a passenger on the flight, posted a video on his personal Facebook page stating he was "recording his last moments." Martinez told CBS News there was "blood everywhere" on the aircraft.

Remember folks, if you lose cabin pressure, there is about to be a rapid descent to 10k feet or so.
Pilot doesn't have time to come on the PA and breakdown whats going on.
Also i still would shite my pants.
