Rebecca Haro said she was changing her son’s diaper on Thursday evening while standing outside her vehicle near a Big 5 store. Haro told investigators she was attacked by an unknown man and knocked unconscious, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

When Haro woke up, her baby was gone, according to authorities, who arrived on the scene at 7:47 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies and police dogs from both Riverside and San Bernardino counties responded to the scene to search, but they could not find the boy.

...but wait, there's more!

quote:

Investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division interviewed multiple witnesses, including Haro and the boy’s father, Jake Haro. During her interview, investigators asked Rebecca Haro about inconsistencies in her story, and she declined to continue speaking with authorities, the Sheriff’s Department said. Community members held a candlelight vigil on Sunday, and news station ABC 7 reports that authorities were spotted at a Cabazon home over the weekend where the family lives. The Uvalde Foundation For Kids, a national child advocacy group, retracted its offer to help search for the boy and a $5,000 reward for information about his disappearance. The group said it was concerned about Rebecca Haro’s abrupt decision to stop speaking with the advocacy group and the sheriff’s investigators.

The father has been previously charged with Felony child cruelty and has had children removed from the home, prior coworkers indicate they believe he did something. This lil one seemingly had some medical issues as well.

Family member 99% of the time. Abductions from strangers are very low in this country.

Yeah, kids are a pain in the arse. Who would steal a kid when you can steal something cool like a jet ski?

My wife sent me this story late last week when it had just happened. Before any of these other items had come to light this was my initial thought. We hear about these absolutely insane stories every couple years and often times it turns out to be untrue.

Except for this of course.

quote:

"American Nightmare" is a Netflix docuseries that tells the story of Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn, a couple from Vallejo, California, who experienced a harrowing ordeal in 2015 when Huskins was kidnapped from their home. The series explores how Vallejo police and the FBI initially dismissed the kidnapping as a hoax, labeling Huskins as "the real Gone Girl". The couple faced intense scrutiny and public accusations until a detective connected the kidnapping to another home invasion in Dublin, California, leading to the arrest of Matthew Muller.

The Kidnapping:
On March 23, 2015, Denise Huskins was abducted from her home in Vallejo, California.
The Hoax Allegation:
Despite Huskins reappearing unharmed two days later, Vallejo police and the FBI suspected the kidnapping was a hoax orchestrated by Huskins and Quinn.
The "American Nightmare":
The couple faced public shaming and accusations, enduring immense emotional distress.
The Breakthrough:
A detective connected the Vallejo kidnapping to a home invasion in Dublin, California, where Muller had used similar tactics.
Muller's Arrest and Conviction:
Matthew Muller was ultimately arrested and convicted for the kidnapping and rape of Denise Huskins.

And the parents have now been arrested. You could just tell they were full of shite from the start. If I had to take a guess what happened is a fight got out of control that killed or brain damaged the kid, they got rid of it, he punches her in the face in a futile effort to make it believable, and the best they could come up with is some Puerto Rican just stole their seven month old baby for the hell of it. Sure Jan, sure.
