The white non golfing citizens of uptown are pushing hard for the course to stay closed. It’s awesome recreational space.

I hate the Destroya as much as the next guy but I am confused she isn't stopping the course from opening.

I don't play golf and don't care if it's not a golf course but they damn better sure keep it green space.

Its a golf course. Do something with the clubhouse and restuarant but the course is one of the few areas in Nola where people actually do social distance.

Lord, the politicians in nola are idiots. Yet what does that say about the ones that keep electing them?

Can you point us towards the new devlopments? A facebook page is not a new development.

There is a new post (at around 3:30) on the FB page with a letter from the Audubon Commission Public Relations Director, go read it.

Basically said they are facing tough economic times but nothing is decided and they will be looking for input from all sides on the issue.

Look, Ron Foreman has more power and pull in this city than Destroya can ever hope to have.

Remember a couple of years ago they wanted a millage increase and it was shot down. Then last year, the voters rededicated some millages that took about 4 million a year away from them.

It would be stupid for them to turn it into green space. I'm curious what their ideas are. If the course is breaking even, and something new can bring in more revenue, it's got to be considered. Golf is a dying game, despite the First Tee's efforts.

The Audubon Commission is appointed by the mayor.

Oh, so another lets blame everything on the Mayor we don't like. First, have you looked at who is on the Audubon Commission -- Audubon Commission Members. Most of the board, including the entire executive committee is mostly white uptown lawyers, doctors, business people and bankers. Even the black folks on the board have serious business/professional connections.

Second, many of those folks were board members before Mayor Cantrell and will be board members after she is done.

I should clarify to say, Golf, played on an outdoor golf course, is a dying game. I guess drunks and coeds playing at Top Golf is keeping "golf" alive.

Hey, that's it. They should close the golf course and build a Top Golf on site.
