I’m not from NOLA and only played Audubon a couple times, but I’ve always thought it could be a good setup if they made it a solid 9-hole course with a driving range and nice short game area and/or mini par 3 course.

0% chance that course closes. I know three or four people who would fund the course just so they can walk over and play it.

People don't want to support golf courses financially but they magically want them open. I wonder how many people complaining about this course closing are active donors to the Audubon Institute.

The clubhouse has a full service restaurant and when combined with grounds crew that doesn’t seem like a crazy number.
I am still trying to figure out how Audubon choosing to keep the course closed is Latoya’s fault? I also don’t mis a chance to dump on her either.

The commission is appointed by the mayor, she’s on watch.
She will not be bullied.

There is already plenty of green space in Audubon Park surrounding the course. I don't even play golf, but the people who want the course closed are just complaining for the sake of complaining, or to spite golfers whom they probably have some stereotyped view of.

I am honestly dumbfounded. All golf courses in the surrounding areas have been open, and I'm sure a large large majority have stayed opened. Why would Audubon's golf course decide to shut down?

Don't know why I'm invested in this thread and arguing with you but I am.
Of the 23 members (1 vacant), Mayor Cantrell as of January 2020 has appointed a grand total of THREE of the current board members. Board members have 6 year terms so it would be a long time and well into her second term before she would have appointed more than 50% of the members.
Yes the mayor has a lot of influence here, but I can almost guarantee you the final decision on the golf course won't be about what she wants at all.

He won't listen.
Look, if the golf course is going to close, it's going to be because Ron Foreman and his buddies on the commission want it to close. The end.
Further, the people on that commission are a lot of the same ones that helped her get elected. They are the white, money, business, uptown crowd that couldn't stand the thought of being shook down by Bunny and put LaToya in office.
My guess is either 1) This is a nothingburger or 2) there are legit concerns on the commission / their management as to if a golf course is a highest and best use for that space.

I didn’t know she appointed the commission makes more sense now. Yes we can blame her for the hard rock still being there. No shite Mitch or Nagin would have let it stay kike that for so long.
