I wish I was courageous enough to take my kids to Endymion and Baccahus like my mom was but with them at such a young age, and my wife having to work, I'll probably be winging it by myself. And living in TN. for the last many years I have no idea where to go (Slidell was our small town parade in the 80s).

If y'all could give me advice on the best small town / city parades in LA. 2/15-2/18 (weekend before Endymion) I would appreciate it. I wouldn't mind traveling to different cities because I want my babies to experience as much as they can. TIA.

Update: I took the advice of a couple on hear and booked a room on st Charles near Emeril's. It's gonna be 3 days jam packed with parades and I'm excited.

Any advice on this area, setting up, etc is appreciated.

I wouldn't be opposed to exposing them to some culture.

Youngsville used to be a good parade for kids. Can’t imagine it’s changed.

I'd recommend NOLA if you're coming the weekend before Mardi Gras. The crowds aren't bad at all.

Houma for larger parades

Thibodaux for less trashy parades

Was coming here to say that. They have a few good parades that are family friendly.

Decent public areas along the route where you will still be surrounded by good ppl.

Just not by the post office.

Sunday before Endymion is always a nice day. Kids are best at the beginning of the route.

Krewe of Eve rolls in Mandeville on Friday the 14th. It is the family friendly parade in the metro NOLA area and the one you should take those kids to based on your post. Just avoid the short stretch on W. Causeway Blvd right in front of Mandeville High as it is packed with high school age kids and is the Northshore version of “rough”, which means you may see someone smoking and using cuss words in conversation. Not NOLA rough like you may get killed or worse.

I talked to a bunch of people on the route last year who drove over from New Orleans and Metairie, keep in mind Southshore folks think the Northshore is the dark side of the moon, just to bring their kids to a safe parade.

Battle house hotel downtown Mobile

Also, if you can get in, renting a room at the Columns hotel that weekend would be awesome (we did it a few years back)

Long Beach MS has a nice family parade that’s very safe and is pretty short. You’ll have to check which day it runs.

The 1st weekend in NOLA on the Neutral ground between Magazine and St Charles is the best for you and your family.

Titans rolls in Slidell on Friday night, 2/15. Dionysus rolls that Sunday. Good parade weekend.

Make sure to set up your ladder on the neutral ground at least two days early

Selene in Slidell Friday night, uptown on Saturday and Sunday morning. Skip the night parades in NOLA
