Wait, you mean to tell me you wouldn’t get a lawyer if you were with someone, went your own separate ways, and then you heard she disappeared? You would just roll in and sit down and talk to the police?

American prisons are littered with naive people like you. Innocent and guilty alike.

If I’m with and separate from someone I give a scintilla of a shite about, I presume the family reaches out to me if that person has disappeared. And, in that case, I’m going to try to help the family out of basic human decency, if nothing else. I don’t have all the facts, but I’m not getting the impression that’s remotely what happened here.

Now, if the cops want me to sit down and go on record, I’m absolutely involving an attorney to protect my interests. But yeah, I’m trying to do the right thing first, even if that makes you consider me naive, boss.

From a legal perspective his best option is to say and do nothing. There is no crime to speak of. When the cops start making things up because there is no evidence then it's time to lawyer up.

1) Tats are, umm, something. So few of them are actually done by competent artists. Regardless, none of them look good past 50. Whatever - to each their own.

2) Van life people are, umm, something. The logistics of that entire endeavor just blow my mind. What do they do for money? Do they just save up for a while and then budget and go "off grid" for a while? If so, more power to them. Super jealous.

3) The legal system really is clown world these days. Thieves stealing from your house and business get more protections than you do protecting yourself. Its all a damn crapshoot. Its why after reading 7 pages im all in for this story. Dont blame this cat one bit for lawyering up and shutting his mouth. Cant wait to see how it turned out.

4) My money is on an OD. Ol girl did a fentanyl hot shot, started gurgling, and he said check please and hit the road for florida. Real chicken shite thing to do but hey - Thats yutes and the clown world for you.

So now you want to further implicate yourself to the police by way of playing a game of telephone with them through the family of a missing person?

Your nobility is what lands innocent people in jail. Sometimes there isn’t a good looking explanation for why you separated, and if something happened after that, best not paint a picture for them. You’re automatically going to be assumed to be involved in the disappearance by anyone who wants to know. And anything you say is going to be taken out of context to shape a narrative if it needs to be.

I don't blame the guy for lawyering up. I don't blame him for not talking to the police. However if it's something like an OD or accident and he knows where the body is then He's slitting his own throat not telling his side of the story. I imagine the police have a search warrant for everything in his possession including his phone and van. Wouldn't be surprised to find gps on either.

If I was innocent, then I wouldn't talk to the police, but I would give my story to the lawyer who could bring enough of it out to show I'm innocent. There's a public relations battle to be fought as well. Sorry but if I'm on a jury and you have someone acting like a POS human unwilling to assist even at the story level of the last time they saw the missing person... Then I'd vote guilty every single time. Of course I wouldn't ever make that jury because that's what I tell them every time I'm there for duty.

Their lawyer will tell their story at trial and not allow the police to distort it by taking its elements out of context to fit their own narratives.

I hate that I've become such a cynical old bastard, but my first thought is that this is a publicity stunt by some attention seeking youtubers.

I thought about this as well and unfortunately, in today's world, this is a possibility

Bingo. Family is close friends with several GSP officers.

First thing they told us was never talk to the police without counsel present. Even if you know and can prove you had nothing to do with anything, have a lawyer present.

I watched the Netflix special called Long Shot, where a completely innocent man was framed by the police, and he was only saved because they were filming Curb Your Enthusiasm at a baseball game the accused was at with their kid. The police officers were fired, hopefully charged. They created a story, faked documents, etc etc. Awful.

That being said, I'd say this cat is suspect number zero.

Guy has a sinister look in that 1st photo. Maybe it's my bias because of this incident. But he looks creepy. Looks like a guy too old to be with a young girl.
