I knew Camp Lejeune was nearby and there was a large USMC and (presumably) USN presence in the area and I knew Marines were helping in the search. I just assumed NCIS stuck to military related crimes.

We have Navy and Marine personnel stationed in the New Orleans area, but it's a small presence when compared to a San Diego or Norfolk. Whenever I happen to see an episode of NCIS - New Orleans, one of my favorite parts of the show is them trying to establish NCIS jurisdiction to one of the many crimes commited in our fair city each week. In real life, NCIS led the investigation into the Tulane ROTC instructor who shot his wife five times at NAS/JRB New Orleans in Belle Chasse.

I was thinking the same. So they will tell him he can have some meth or heroin if he tells them where the body is and then say syke.

Prisons have a hard time keeping drugs out. Maybe an enterprising inmate can give this tPOS meth and find out where the body is, then pass that on to investigators for a reduced sentence.

The intersection where they are searching I know well. Hwy 53 and Shaw rd-Burgaw, NC is undeveloped land and there are lots up for sale- cleared that lead to the river. We have so many gators because no one is allowed to kill them here until recently. I fear they won't find her body.

This is strange. They must have some evidence that he disposed of the body etc..., but if they have that, it would seem they would know where the body is. I wonder if he concocted a story about her dying and he was scared and disposed of the body, but why wouldn't he just tell them where the body was, also? Maybe because he doesn't want them to be able to tell how she died.

Dude had stuff he needed to hide. Illegal stuff that was in a large quantity. If the police came to the trailer shortly after her death, they would find or at least see probably cause to investigate further.

He stole two dressers? Sounds as if he had stuff to hide somewhere else.

I hope I'm totally wrong.

7 PM UPDATE: Body of Mariah Kay Woods has been found in Pender County

The body of 3-year-old Mariah Kay Woods has been found in Pender County, according to officials.

Sadly I knew this had to have been coming. Why else would they search 43 minutes away on a country road in Burgaw NC, unless someone told them where the body was. I wonder if Mariah was buried or in the river? They had Fayetteville police join Pender County with a boat.

Just got a notice on my phone saying they have a body that they believe to be the young girl. Such a sad outcome.

Sheriff Hans Miller said investigators recovered a body around 5:30 p.m. Saturday along Shaw Highway in Pender County.

A positive confirmation of an identity will be made by the medical examiner's office.

It is a country road, mostly uninhabitated it is being developed for river homes and camps. I wonder if he buried her. The gators would have gotten her.

I think it's also done if they're cooking small amounts of meth or growing small amounts of weed

a general map of where she was found; it is technically Hollands Shelter creek restaurant where boats probably launched that always floods every hurricane (best catfish on the planet) so it is a creek but it is connected to Cape Fear River.
