So you'd make the choice, not the government or medical professionals. Got it, that's what we're all saying.

and medical professionals from Italy are telling them what's best is to send him to them so they can continue to try and save his life. Uh oh, not as black and white a picture as you're trying to paint anymore, is it?
Are the Italians saying that from a medical point of view or from some sort of personal sense of morality?

I haven't read one opinion from a medical professional claiming they can save the child's life
So the Italian government, the parents, the Pope, and numerous journalists are just lying about what Italian doctors have told them they would try to do. Dude, just gtfo of here

How about this. Let the fricking parents decide how their child dies. With dignity on their terms is the right answer. Their losing their child, let them not lose their minds for the rest of their lives.

I just don't see where they've come out and say they are going to save the kid's life.
If they were then why have all the other medical professionals, UK courts, EU courts not given those statements any weight?

Simple question: You seem to be for the right of government to tell you how you spend your own money on your own care. Is that correct?

Is there dignity in moving him to Italy?

I imagine their sense of morality has propelled them to at least try medically to help the child for as long as his caregivers and medicine deem ALL OPTIONS have been exhausted. Regardless, on one hand a british doctor may say there's no hope, an italian doctor says there just might be, and the british government decides to side against hope.

The only thing that should be being discussed is it the right of a government to tell you how you choose to spend your own money on your own care

My original statement was basically saying that calling the judge a murderer was not correct.
I'm actually in support of a parent's right to make those decisions but I'm not blaming the govt for their kid dying and not blaming the medical professionals for the decision.

This should be the argument. Instead, it's entirely "they're killing that kid omg omg omg!"
So then it becomes whether or not the UK is intentionally murdering a child (they're not) instead of a legitimate discussion about rights of parents vs. control of the state.
It's a good example of why our modern discourse is so fricked and why people on the anti-authoritarian side of the argument often derail their own narrative.

It really sounds like you have entirely too much faith in the integrity of the system/government...when it seems pretty obvious at this point they lack any integrity at the most basal level.

They weighed it, but it's still a numbers game to the British govt. Any extraordinary measures taken by the Italians would represent only a marginal chance at extended life, and still zero chance of a normal life. Ultimately, that's all utilization in an NHS style govt is based on. Cost-benefit. And the UK govt sees no benefit to providing more resources to this little guy.
Them preventing "help" is another (abhorrent) matter entirely.
