They need to go back to their hard working, get over the system no matter what mentality that IMO they had during Jim Crow. During segregation, it seems blacks were motivated to better themselves, get educated, have better lives. The families were in tact, fathers in the house raising their sons. That type of culture needs a resurgence.
You can thank Lyndon Baines Johnson for this.

Do I think he's at risk to shoot a place up? Probably not, but I wouldn't be shocked if he did either. What do you do with somebody like that?
Zero things you can do. I had a crazy chick after me like that and called the sheriff dept. They didn't give a frick.

Incorrect. Mass shootings are classified as anytime 4 or more people are killed at random. By that definition, handguns are by far the worst perpetrators. Long rifle deaths account for a total of 3% of gun violence deaths.
I am not talking about statistical mass shootings. I am talking about the high profile cases from the last several years that end up being the cornerstone for public debate. It's cherry picking I know

It's for sure cherry picking because the 3rd largest mass shooting and largest school shooting in US history (Virginia tech) was done using handguns.

It's unfortunate because some resources are available, but we really don't know all that much about the human brain. And we misdiagnose these individuals all the time. And the medicine they are put on makes many of them unable to function.
Apparently the solution that's worked thus far is long term behavioral health treatment, where counselors essentially re-wire the brain/thought process for a lot of these individuals. But that's not sustainable considering cost and the amount of people who need this treatment.
idk.

He just created a tit for them to suck on. He did not make them suck on it. People have brains and choose whether or not to better themselves. It's a state of mind, and a matter of pride in oneself.

Gun laws can’t stop what’s already out of control. The toothpaste is out the tube and so if you want to know the best way to stop this it’s keeping guns nearby or on you.
I couldn't agree more.
This is a textbook example of how gun laws DO NOT keep you safer, at the end of the day.
This broken individual knew damn well he would meet ZERO armed resistance until after his damage was done.

They used to be sent off to asylums. But those have been closed because of the inhumane treatment the patients were receiving.
I don’t know what the solution is, honestly.

Why is one of these guns demonized but the other isn't?
Because the Mini 14 doesn’t have a magazine in it?

It will also be interesting to see what if any medications he was taking for his mental issues......

OT isn't the best place for me to try and trick someone with that picture, works all the time though on Twitter. No one ever mentions the Mini 14 when they talk about "Assault Rifles" (or wifles according to Kracka) and a lot of idiots fall for that picture calling it a "hunting gun". When in reality, both are semi-auto long rifles that both shoot the same round and can house the same magazines.

Care to share your extensive knowledge on the subject? Also provide an explanation why car wreck survivors and rape survivors do not beat their spouse or commit mass murder?

Obviously, I am not a mental illness expect by any stretch.. But knowing people who have mental illness and being aware of what they have gone through. I have to think some of these people are not being treated appropriately.
This is just one example I know of, but my neighbor's daughter (who is in her upper 40s) is bipolar/mental illness. As she got older it got worse and several years ago she tried to kill herself and she went to some state ran facility.
She had been in there for almost a month and she was only getting worse, so her parents took her out and brought her to whatever type of doctor treats people with mental illness. He told them the problem she was having and why she was having episodes of lashing out and was trying to hurt people at the facility was because they were giving her one type of med that you are suppose to wean off of, but they would just give her something else the next time, wait a few days and then try something else.
That always makes me wonder. How many people out there have a similar situation, but are not in a facility. They go to the doctor, start taking one type of med, it doesn't seem to work so the doctor gives them something else.. And having those different types of meds in their system.. Causes chemical imbalances that makes people do crazy shite..

My SO has an old friend from HS who she's in contact with once in a while. Severely bipolar. Nice enough guy when his meds are working, a loose cannon when they're not, like now. Currently unemployed due to a fight with his boss, estranged from his family and an ex due to anger issues. My SO has recently incurred his ire over something inconsequential. Do I think he's at risk to shoot a place up? Probably not, but I wouldn't be shocked if he did either. What do you do with somebody like that?
Make it clear to your SO to sever those ties by any means possible, and take steps to give that decision teeth, if that's not already the case.
