I wonder why we can't see the port crane. According to the picture on the first page it is connected to the leg tower. I thought it had it's own pedestal.

Oh wow... Someone got video on it capsizing, not sure if it was shared yet.
As bad as that is, I was almost expecting it to be worse. Hope everyone is found.

I think it slid off of the leg. The walkway is still there. On that barge the cranes are wrapped around the legs. Looks like the swing ring is still there.

Yeah that all I can think of is that the crane slid off the leg.
I’m hearing 12 people still missing

Yes
Praying for airpockets. They should have been battened down.
But there is no telling how much damage there is to the quarters. I’m hoping this turns out like the “Poseidon Adventure” and we see some folks come out of that hull.
Remember this guy from 2003 in Nigeria ? He survived three days 100 feet down in the Atlantic. Sunken tug.

So they might not have all abandoned ship?
I had assumed they all got off the ship before it capsized... hadn't even considered some might have stayed.

The storm moved through by that point. I'm sure it was hell on earth in the middle of the storm.

What happens if your a crew member and decide your not going out due to expected weather conditions and it’s considerable threat? Do you automatically lose your job? How long before this accident did these guys leave port ASSUMING there were headed out and not back in?
I know nothing about this stuff so sorry if my questions are dumb. Just wonder if they knew of the bad conditions (obviously worse than they thought) before they left.

Is that one that we worked on? I know we did work a couple Seacor boats? And yeah, wierd the crane isn't showing.

How many if any were in the life raft?

That's what it looks like... more than a 90 deg list. Here's a drawing from the SEACOR spec page
Edit: Didnt have my coffee this morning when putting this together. CHEDBALLZ is correct, port leg,
Rotated & flipped, looks like the port leg above water, entire living quarters/helm under water:

Somebody else gets on the boat and you don't get paid. If the company says the boat goes, the boat goes. Capt might question it but the boat goes. They have their own weather guys on staff to help make these decisions.

I wonder how much time/money/get-there-itis of the bosses plays into their decisions and overrides the weathermen.

Looks like the left the dock in Fourchon at 12pm noon yesterday and left the mouth of the pass at 1400 and the last transmission on AIS was around 1539

They were underway. Some were probably laying in bed when this shite happened. Depends how quick this thing flipped over otherwise They would have been trapped because you can't open those steel doors that easy and it's not completely water proof unless you close every latch on the door. I doubt that was the case. Literally a miracle if the entire crew survived. I hope they do but man that's not good.
I've seen what a drilling rig looks like when it hits the seafloor from falling over due to storms. Total devastation.

I’m listening to the helicopters talking right now. Said they dropped life jackets and a radio to 3 guys hanging on the superstructure last night. Sounded like two of them were no longer there come this morning. They are still searching along with a coast guard cutter

Oh you know its a huge factor. If you don't sail the boat next slip over will. Those guys are scrapping for jobs right now.

I wonder what the water temps are like right now?

It depends on who it was contracted to. If it was a smaller independent then the crew would be pressured to go out under the claim of “ if this boat won’t I will find one who will”.
If it was a major the crew would have suggested that they wait till the weather passed and more than likely the company man would have agreed.
