Oh & frick that company man.
If you weren't so far we'd drink quite a few.
I almost fist fought company men a few times over dumb shite. Like literally fixing to come to blows. I wasn't putting up with stupid shite out there. Those old fricks think they know everything because they got a petroleum degree, I told one to wipe his arse with it because he must have sucked a duck to get it. The whole rig was running in there to see what was going on .

From FB
12 PM update- Now 68 hours in. We just had a meeting with USCG, NTSB, DonJon Salvage, and Seacor. From DonJon salvage, they are supporting the dive team, they are saying since this morning, the weather conditions have still been rough but they’ve been able to run lines to numerous entry points. They have still yet to go inside of the boat. We’re unsure why there isn’t more that can be done at some type of way, but this is what we know.
Coast Guard did confirm that one body was found 33 miles from the jackup boat. 6 have been recovered, 2 bodies, and 11 are still confirmed missing. Keep the prayers coming that we can bring our boys back! ????

There's some good hearted, knowledgeable company men out there but at the same time there's a lot of idiots who sucked dick or kissed arse to get where they are. They are dumber than a box of rocks & won't listen to others with more experience or knowledge. Their egos just won't allow it.
I've gotten into it with some myself. Witnessed others almost come to blows with company men. One guy told a company man it's on when we hit the dock. I've never seen a grown man run with his bags so fast in my life.

#ICYMI The Coast Guard recovered one unresponsive person in the water Thursday near the capsized Seacor Power lift boat 8 miles south of #PortFourchon.
Divers returned to the scene at 7:50 a.m. Friday to conduct an assessment and began dive operations. Divers had to resurface mid morning due to dangerous weather conditions, but resumed diving again around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

I could see the banning of liftboats tapping their legs down to get out of rough seas in transit or for only extreme emergency situations.
Try reading more carefully next time.
I’ve read carefully and can confirm that would be an emotionally-charged piece of legislation that would accomplish nothing to prevent these situations and have horrible unintended consequences.
Try thinking more carefully next time.

So wait for “extreme emergency situations” before having permission to start setting up?
The whole point of setting up for weather is so that the boat doesn’t get put into an emergency situation to begin with.

Setting up would have never been an issue if the boat had not left the C-port..... The OG industry loves preaching safety until it cuts into their schedules, and production.
I’m sure the company that contracted Seacor was putting pressure on them via timelines, which trickles down to the captain feeling pressured to leave dock.
Perfect example of we’ve rode/worked through rough weather before, we can do it again. Let’s get underway.

You can thank The Jones Act, Politics, lawyers and insurance companies for that
Eta: and it’s not just the O&G industry. It’s the entire commercial marine industry

I had to chuckle at all of the pre-flight COVID safety materials that were forwarded to me for a recent flight. Emails, texts, etx...on how to prepare for the flight to Chicago and what expectations / protocols the airline had in place to protect me.
On morning of the flight, I got a text informing me the flight was overbooked (> every seat sold), and if I had a concern, due to COVID, they would reschedule me for no charge.

If I had to guess - they saw the extended forecast for rough seas and figured that Tuesday was the last opportunity to get offshore for at least 5 days. They likely made the call to make a run and get to the destination before the weather arrived.
And now we all see the unfortunate outcome

does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes into hours...

I thought the destination was MP138? Don’t these travel normally at 5kts or less? That trip would take about 12-15 hrs

Yep that’s what makes me think they left at 12o’clock noon to be on location 12 hours later at midnight

I love the spineless, goo gobbling, ball-less, arse licking, trans-amoeba, homo sexual, goat frickers that serial downvote
I posted something other day responding to a guy that had lost his dog, something like, sorry, best of wishes to the family, and this pussy POS down voted that
