did a little of that too, when ever the guy had multiple stops he would schedule them to be at a certain rig around lunchtime, seemed to know who had the best cooks, had some decent lunches out there

My dad worked off shore during summers when he was in college

As did I, which is why I work behind a desk now. Best life lesson I ever got.

A few years after high school, I worked a summer in Lafitte on the tug that went down in the Mississippi blocking traffic for a week or so. Mid-late 80's.

Spent the summer cleaning out the storage and pressure washing the mud out of the holds... crawling through 2'x2' holes they cut to allow water out as it was lifted out of the river.

Decided real quick to continue my education.

I saw some guys lose the best paying job they would ever have because they couldn’t go through the water training.

I remember when they made us swim a lap in blue jeans. I took off like Michael Phelps only to start dog paddling about half way across.

Yeah that’s what I tell people all the time when they say “ must be nice being off half the time making all that money!
No problem bud , be away half the time missing all the time with family, water survival, helo flights, swing roping or man basket sometimes, sharing quarters and potential fire and explosions and the constant threat of JODY!!
Not everyone is cut out for it and I sure didn’t plan on doing it after seeing all my family who did it go through down turns and such, but I just kind of ended up “offshore” and really like the work as well as the money and camaraderie of it..

@RVargasAdvocate
The Lafourche Parish coroner tells me that a second Seacor Power crew member has been discovered in the Gulf of Mexico dead. The crew member's identity isn't being released.

.@johnsimerman spoke w/family who said Coast Guard had informed that a 2nd dead crewmember was found.

Seacor Power family members have been told this second dead crewmember was found 33 miles away from the capsized jack up boat. Recall reports that one crew member who fell off the hull hours after the capsizing had not been found.

The captain
The first body in Pelto
Now the second one in Pelto
And the guy that fell off the hull ( I assume he died)

That is how I read it. I may be mistaken.

ETA: Or is that referencing to first one they found in Pelto again?

I determined very quickly after my first venture offshore during school that I would do many things in life and fail miserably before I would ever sign up to be the hand working the casing stabbing board on an offshore casing crew.

Alot more than you think. Cooks, cleaning personnel, engineers, divers, surveyors, DP operators, secretaries, medics and other positions.

Some are hot and some you don't even care to look at.

There was a diver I worked with and she was about a 6. She'd get out of the water, strip off her clothes on the deck and go to the chamber. Should have seen the eyes watching out the windows every time she got out

I think there is only one body found in Pelto and it is likely the guy that went into the water with the other 2 and wasn't recovered (other 2 were recovered).
