I agree with others that this is likely driven by a very uptight OCD type wife who doesn't have a clue.

No clue, no manners, no shame. It’s fine to host the party, but asking guests to bring something and linking to a registry is tacky AF.

Isn't that a bit presumptuous to expect perfect strangers to bring a gift,

Yes

I suggest a solo/breeo stove fire at your own house and never talk to them again.

No way this is true. But, I promise I laughed out loud. Especially about the QR code for a house warming wish list.

Do they have family/friends around? If so I would just figure they were having a housewarming party where a registry isn't completely weird but then lumped in the neighbors and sent everyone the same link to RSVP. If they know no one in the area, totally weird.

Personally I'd ignore the registry but go to introduce myself and bring them a houseplant (same as I would do for anyone moving to a property that borders mine). I'd also make an excuse to leave quickly without eating or drinking.

With their lack of awareness, they'll probably piss everyone around them off.

Are they under 30? This age does things quite differently than other generations. Everything is self focused.

When you said they were hosting their own welcome to the neighborhood party and they were young I knew it would be some Gender Reveal Party level gift grab foolishness.

OP says the invite was for a “meet the neighbors” event, so doesn’t sound like a traditional housewarming with family and friends. Sounds like an event specifically for neighbors that the hosts have never even met but are apparently expecting gifts from

Send them an email asking them to choose between two different choices of champagne. Include a link that brings you straight to an image of the middle finger.

Oh we've totally branded one party two ways. In our old neighborhood we used to have a holiday party where the friends and family invite had no end time but invites to neighbors were for a "drop in" with a start and end time.

The registry thing is just really weird and of course I want to know where it is and price points. Hope the OP goes to this blessed event and reports back.
