Well, 12hrs was an ETA, and no harm comes. Just saying it wouldn't be the method I would use.

How bad is his drug habit also if he has a good bit of savings? I feel folks that are really bad off have spent all their money on the habit.

This is the first time he's been alone since his daughter moved in with him and my mom.
Daughter is in Georgia visiting her mother and my mom was in Orlando from Wednesday to Sunday night.
He hasn't really had an opportunity to go off on a bender until now.
He's your typical addict. Goes through swings of being fricked up then sober for a while and crashes again really hard.

That’s why I was asking what kind of drugs he uses. If he’s got a coke habit this is a lot different than someone withdrawing from meth or heroin. I don’t know many meth addicts who have maintained 16k in their savings.

When you say "dog has been located" are you just referring to the person at the hotel mentioning they saw rented him a room with a dog

No.
Hotel staff did a wellness check and found the dog in the room. My brother may have left to get food or perhaps drugs.
A few family members are driving down from the Jackson metro area right now.
