I purchased him a 2018 Ford Transit 250 that has at least a 2 year extended warranty that covers pretty much everything. We wanted a 3 year warranty, but at least we have that much peace of mind. The extended warranty even covers the AC. He told me his last van was like an oven, so this will be so nice.
This van has everything he wanted such as the seats he prefers, shelves, tow hitch, towing capacity, etc. The only thing is he really wants running boards. I am trying to find some used Ford Transit 250 running boards, because I would love to get those put on for him. Maybe get those from a salvaged van for cheap. If anyone sees any please let me know.
Another thing I would like to get for his van is a monitor that constantly shows a rear cam view. Like a backup cam, but one that stays on all the time while driving. This really helps him with driving.
I did a lot of research and from my understanding the 2018-2019s can be a bit more reliable than some of the 2020s and newer. I saw some concerns about the new transmission in the 2020s and up. And that the transmission repair can be double and triple the cost of the previous models.
I wanted to make sure I had enough money to be able to afford the taxes and insurance (full coverage), regular maintenance/service (I plan to be on top of this), and any other emergency expenses that could come up between working again and then any extra money would go towards a fund for my sister. I appreciate the poster who suggested getting an ABLE account.

Sorry for not seeing that. Long day, but I was just concerned and tried to reply quickly. Thank you so much. I'll check back later. Please e-mail me if you need to get in touch with me.

Please keep your GFM open a little while longer.
I am sure that there are laggers. This thing grew legs fast.
Post pics when you get it.

Thank you. I often feel bad about asking for help, but I try to realize that I would be thrilled to be in the position to help someone else in need. I always try to help anyone however I can.
I will definitely post pictures. The power of TD is amazing. I need to thank so many others as well.

Never feel bad about asking for help.
If you never get help, you can get bogged down in dark places.
Take care.

Thanks for the update.
It must be astounding for your father when you tell him a bunch of strangers on the internet answered the call and supported this very worthy cause.
I think this story is very newsworthy and could be a segment in local or even national news as a heartwarming example of people helping people.
Best wishes to you and your family.

Good luck baw. You are a good son. This should buy you some time. There is lots of good advice in this thread for planning for the long run for you and your family.

Hell yeah brother, happy everything worked out.
Now a side question: how the hell do you manage to stream without getting taken down? I stream some stuff but only in discord because the networks are quick with the ban hammer on YouTube, twitch, etc.

Thank you, Fr33 for your work and encouragement in facilitating this thing. I underwent surgery Wednesday and have had a miserable couple days so seeing this succeed has been the one bright spot of this week. I promise to be more tolerant of your poetic efforts (though some are TLDR). Congrats to all who contributed and helped this happen.
Beau, you did a good thing for someone deserving, and like many others here I owed you for driving the bus and building the screen porch, me. Like baseball HOF Rogers Hornsby once said when asked what he did in Winter, I stare out the window and wait for Spring. I hope the GFM stays up a while so I can make another contribution when the monthly check arrives, since the surgeon extracted all of my money.

He will give you his Venmo.
He gave it to me and it really isn't hard to figure out.
