Actually the real problem is the people who wait to stand up until the row in front of them leaves and then spends 2 minutes pulling their bags out of the overhead before they finally leave.

I’d be on board with your idea if got rid of overhead bins though.

I think those stories are worth their own thread haha.

This is the problem with most solutions to an existing perceived problem. People don't consider the downstream, unintended, and second order effects of their proposal.

I've traveled literally all over for work in the last 7-8 years (sans COVID) and I see it all the time, especially in the South.

Overseas not so much, but definitely on international flights out of the US.

No it's not. It's you retarded assholes that didn't bother to start packing shite up when the descent started. Carry on stuff should be a grab, rip, and go affair when you hit the gate.

They are littered throughout this thread - most of them I agree with. You don't agree.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

I’ve probably take 50 round trips in the last two years and never seen this impact anything in anyway. The only thing I’ve ever seen that comes even close is hanging something over the handle of the carryon which only takes more vertical space ie affects no others ability to use overhead space

Watching old people and women try to put luggage in an overhead bin is an entire level in Dante's Inferno.

It might be my biggest source of frustration in flying. Pathetic.

You’re right. Hate agents don’t let that shite fly anymore. If you have a body bag or a purse they’ll make you consolidate that to 2 bags before boarding.

Ideally everyone would be allowed one carry one that must be able to fit underneath the seat. Everything else can get checked.

Not going to do your homework of compiling everything into Cliff's notes for you - I pointed you to the source material.

Everyone can have their own opinion and I recognize when I'm not going to change someone elses.

I’ve seen no downstream consequences other than you’d need more people to load and unload bags. Others are saying it would take longer with no basis other than that’s what they think so you’re full of shite. Explain it

frick that. Deplaning take 5-10 minutes once the door opens.

It would take twice that long waiting on bags at a carousel.

Just charge for the bin space and you only get the bin above your seat. No exceptions. No more of this “if your bin is full just find somewhere to jam it” nonsense.

You pick your seat and you have the option to add overhead space when you pick it. If there is no space left to choose you have to check your bag. End of problem.

I haven’t checked a bag in years but last time I did MSY took 45 mins to start the carousel and another hour to finish loading all the bags.
