Him asserting his right to a seat is not the same thing as being unruly.

That's like me telling a cop that I don't consent to a search of my car and him arresting me for obstruction of justice or resisting arrest or disorderly conduct.

ETA:seat, not ticket

I did, I've stated that they can claim him as unruly and deemed the flight unsafe.

For not getting off the plane for a reason that was against their own policy?

Good luck with that one...

Thats absurd and you just being stubborn and going out of your way to not concede that you may be incorrect here.

Your friend is mistaken. They offered him $1000 worth of little coupons that they respect like a $10 crack whore.

It really depends on him being unruly. The airline can claim they didn't feel safe with him on the flight due to him not following the flight crew's instructions to get off.

Great reasoning.

Force guy to get off flight
He is unruly
Remove him from flight for being unruly
???
Profit

Welp, that sucks for them

Sure does, now the flight attendant and pilot unions go on strike due to not enough rest and now you really can't fly to Louisville because of no flight crew.

pilots are expected to have a certain amount of rest between flights...it is likely that these pilots "timed out" and therefore could not drive to Louisville as you suggested.

I asked my friend if pilots ever have to drive to their next city:
Well, they likely timed out anyway. For a 4.5 hour drive, you only save about 1 hr in terms of driveway to driveway travel.....

They could have driven

Because I've flown a ton and seen people get kicked off for raising their voice, after they were seated.

Exactly, at some point you gotta just say, hey maybe I'm wrong here, it's possible.

No reason to jump through those kinds of hoops to try to be right, that's just terrible logic.

Sounds like that's United's problem and they need to do a better job of getting crew around.

These are still personnel problems, not passenger problems.

Holy shite dude are you related to United's CEO or something? I've seen multiple AVIATION ATTORNEYS comment on it and apparently when he crossed the check in gate the rules change drastically. United's rules I might add! After that you can only kick off a passenger if he presents a threat. Telling him he's kicked off and then claiming he's a threat after that is probably the dumbest thing I've read in this entire thread.

Are you an aviation attorney or an attorney of any sort? If not, it might be best the STFU and wait for the experts to comment.

You've gone out of your way to say United did nothing wrong.

You have aviation attorneys who read the entire policy that I'm sure you haven't read saying United did something wrong.

Yea, I think it's entirely fair to say you're going out of your way to not admit that you MIGHT be wrong.

You do realize a smaller regional jet crashed due to not enough crew rest, right?

Were they raising their voice because they were already being forced of the plane for no other reason, randomly?

Can you possibly see the difference? Maybe?

Guess what? Your way wouldn't hold up much at all. He wasn't being removed "because he was unruly" and there would be no way to argue that.

The decision to remove him was already made based on other criteria. It would never hold up. Ever.
