United is seriously going to take a huge, massive hit from this. Even in the internet age where everything is forgotten in a week, this is going to be long term bad for them.

They are going to have to have a huge ad campaign, change policies, and offer a shitload of super discount rates...strictly from a PR perspective.

How is it the CEO's fault his company was following procedures and the doctor throws the tantrum? Again, he has to say they will review. They may make some changes, but simple fact of the matter is must flies will fly over passengers.

Ummmm, most people are saying United was legally allowed to do what they did because the Policy said so.

shel is pointing out that that actually might not be the case retard

I am not sure about that anymore.

I have been reading more than one aviation attorney state that once he passed the gate and handed his boarding pass over that changes the game.

Having the crew drive, now you have to show them as working and they will time out

Interesting choice to call me that name when many people in this thread are arguing the policy.

I've been researching that as well. That seems to be the case. It is AT WORST ambiguous, but it seems to be that United fricked up.

This sounds like a personnel problem.

Were they?

It's been mentioned probably 10 times that some aviation attorneys who have actually read their entire policy are saying they violated that policy, but you've ignored it as i don't think you've replied to that at any point as of yet.

For a 4.5 hour drive, they would have gotten to Louisville only about an hour or so later than the flight with deboarding and taxing. The flight wasnt until the next morning. There would have been around 8 hours of off time.

United blew it

It really depends on him being unruly. The airline can claim they didn't feel safe with him on the flight due to him not following the flight crew's instructions to get off.

Some airlines require rest that is longer than 8 hrs.

Well, than United should eat shite for the flight the next morning. Because the customer that was dragged off the flight legally didnt have to do shite either possibly.

I love that right after he called me a retard, about 5 posters literally replied questioning the policy.

Excuse me?
pilots are expected to have a certain amount of rest between flights...it is likely that these pilots "timed out" and therefore could not drive to Louisville as you suggested.

I asked my friend if pilots ever have to drive to their next city:
quote:

It does happen, but they normally hire a cab or limo service, but if it takes 5 hours for them to get them to their hotel, and then they have to be given a minimum of 10 hours rest at the hotel ( that changed because passengers & congress thought pilots crashed planes because they didn't get enough rest about 5 years ago). the flight in the morning would probably be delayed 5+ hours in the morning. That also wasn't a United flight, it was a Republic airlines flight who is a sub carrier for United airlines. It's a rarity they would ground transport you somewhere for 5 hours, especially a whole crew.

I did, I've stated that they can claim him as unruly and deemed the flight unsafe.
