So she got pissed tested as a passenger? What is the problem? Adults can't be drunk and take a cab?

They would do it every few months at Ramstein.

For those saying they've never heard of random urinalysis at the gate...it happens. My buddy and I were driving onto Luke AFB in Arizona years ago and got popped. It was a Saturday night and we were not on duty...just pulling on base as we were in billeting during a 2-week visit. Guard directed us to park in a lot just inside the gate. Some major gave us a paper to report to the pee test building & seized our ID cards. We got them back when we provided our samples. This also happens a lot at Nellis AFB and Tyndall AFB due to the higher-than-average drug culture in those locations.
As for "unfair", wrong. As a servicemember, you're subject to any search of your persons or vehicle on any installation. Every base/fort has a big freaking sign stating as much as you enter. You're also subject to random urinalysis at any time. Unless you're suspected of DUI or drunk on duty, they don't care if you're full of Bud Lite Lime. They're checking for illicit drug use. Piss as directed, get your GI Bill benefits, and move along.

The part that really chaps my panus is the fact that they lost their cab and had to walk home. It just really sucked for them and ruined their good time. Our servicemen sacrifice so much, they deploy, move all over, get disabled and killed in the line of duty. Why not piss test during business hours? Drugs don't leave your system over night.

Your friend is lucky he didn't get his arse chewed out for his wife making a scene. Nothing was funnier than seeing soldiers holding up signs on the side of the road at Ft Benning saying "my wife was speeding" after theif wives got tickets on base.

This can't be real

You are on duty 24/7

They do it at night b/c some drugs are out of your system in a few days. So makes sense to grab people on a weekend night when they are drunk and are more likely to try drugs, than 5 days after the fact they did something that can be out their system in 2-3 days.

Military are under the 'Uniform Code of Military Conduct' basically gives MPs carte blanche to do as they please when investigating servicemen.

You obviously do not understand that military life and civilian life are completely different. You are not technically "off duty" so yeah they can drug test on the spot if they want too. Everyone who is a service member understands what they are sacrificing when they serve and they will be alright.

I believe you and I'm not surprised; just I haven't seen it myself.
I can see why it may be implemented at some installations.
It would be awesome if they did this to ait and entry service members at ft. Sam.

My unit at ft. Stewart did something like this. They had to carry this gorilla or ape like statue everywhere they went for a full week.

As soon as you let us know who unfairly searched and seized our military, I'll make sure that's their arse!

Lots of bases make you reset the no days with out a DUI counter back to zero if you got a DUI. While everyone is coming to work so you get shammed.

Piss. They seized their piss for a drug test.

They don't have to let you onto the base. Too bad your friend and his ol' lady can't handle their liquor.

Tell your friends to gain a better grasp of their constitutional rights while in the military. You should do the same.

Wife was probably a loud mouth. They should have PIIHB.
