I remember when everyone cheered computers and robots entering the workforce because they thought it was only going to replace fast food workers.
Oh how wrong they were. Now it's becoming a crisis because instead of fast food it's replacing white collar computer monkeys.

Oh...you're an idiot with an entitled sense of self worth.

Maybe I'm missing something, but in my field offshore outsourcing is a much bigger issue than AI.
Mingo and I agree, which is relatively shocking.

HR has already been using various pieces of software to filter candidates.

So what is your solution?
Ban companies from using AI?

Maybe I should have said office jobs.
Until they build robots that can fix plumbing, wire houses or climb up in my attic to fix the AC those “blue” collar jobs will be around. I imagine it’ll take longer for those robots to come around.

China is fighting self-driving cars because the majority of young men use that for their living. Leave young men without a job and a direction, you get violence, angst, and rebellion.
China has bigger issues on their plate. One child policy was an amazing success at reducing their population. They have a large amount of men, and an extreme lack of women

I don't give a shite. My industry is safe from this shite.

I think we are going down that rabbit hole regardless. Most companies cannot own nukes, and AI likely will hit that level of danger in the next decade.

Shouldn't be that controversial.
What would you be more comfortable with an automated mechanic that changes your oil for you or an automated judge that decides if you go to prison or not?

Culinary.
Believe me, having to deal with my employees makes me wish AI could take over, but that's just not possible.

Friendly reminder:
It is complete and utter economic fallacy that technology causes unemployment.
It causes temporary job displacement
Every major tech breakthrough in modern history- the automobile, the computer, airplanes, machinery, etc- was met with concerns by luddites that it was going to make people unemployable.

Thank you, nailed it.
Tell your kids to major in AI programming, robotic engineering, and they are guaranteed to be in booming industries.

This isn't making people unemployable, just not in the fields they'd rather be employed in.
Labor jobs will always be around, but those are hard...

tax companies who replace workers with AI

Yeah all the “learn a trade people” I guess haven’t been watching the Boston Dynamic Videos? Or paid attention to Elon saying Tesla is pivoting to humanoid robots, including opposable thumbs and everything, that can serve as do it all servants?
Once they have those up and running you think it’ll be hard to program them to build a house, aka the same type of work we’ve been able to program robots to do in factories for the past 50 years?
If AI progresses as the proponents claim (pretty big if) no one’s job as currently contemplated is safe.

Don't argue with the boomers. They still think we live in the 70's and 80's.
