I'd make a stop in the era of the free GD shows if I had a time machine. Maybe take in one of the early acid tests, drop in on some of those recordings.

Definitely looks like him in the reflection

Look at his waist in the reflection. It appears there is a second camera around his neck. Now look at the pic of Jim Marshall you posted. There are two cameras around his neck. In fact he appears with multiple cameras in many pics of him

Free would be good.

3 day pass for 60 year anniversary shows at Golden Gate Park are 1700.00 dollars for a single for Dead & Co.

Here is a photo of Rakow(link below). There are others on dead.net

Looks like he also has an IG (@ronrakow) but not many relevant pictures.

After seeing the pic of Jim Marshall, I’m convinced it’s him. He had the access, he was at the concert in question and he was highly professional. The story in the op points out these were definitely not amateur pics, but taken by someone who knew what they were doing. What’s wild is the Grateful Dead are a very tiny part of the mystery collection. I just went down that rabbit hole since there is more documented history of them than random people on the street.

Wasn't that guy associated with the benefit at the creamery in Oregon that became the Vennetta* show? Some fine work by them on that day.

He’s standing behind the Volkswagen Beetle at the front of the car

Took me a while to see it too...this may help. Oh what a time to be alive.

Ok I know the name Babbs from the movie about the bus trip. That whole gang had/has lived very interesting lives to say the least.

Thoughts?

No but…
I’ve been hung up on my recent realization that I’m only a couple years younger than Jerry was when he died. I always thought of him as an old burned-out grayed hippie when he died. Well, that’s because he was. But he looked at least 73 (being generous) not 53.

Drugs are bad. Mmmmkay?

For anyone interested, the Good Ol' Grateful Deadcast is a good listen. They deep dive on all things GD. And it is "official", so they have access to pretty much all the recordings, interviews, and people still around to tell stories.

I remember seeing Jerry Garcia at the Keystone in Berkeley along with Meryl Sanders in the early 80s. He looked awful then and indeed looked 15 years older than his actual age. He also ballooned up to over 250 pounds due to his junk food diet. His drug of choice was a speedball-heroin and cocaine. Bob Weir on the other hand is a fitness fanatic to this day.
