Well, when you have travel agents who accept $500 EBT cards for $300 cash and several family members have them, that’s how they pay for these cruises. Even the 7 night cruises have a little of this culture. Of course not as much as the 3 and 4 nights, but it’s still there.

Im old enough to remember when going on a cruise was the height of middle class vacation chic. Like everything else the middle class used to enjoy… malls, movies, amusement parks… Cultcha has at least played a part in the White Flight from them.

Carnival did recently ban rap music and Bluetooth speakers. So, they’re at least trying to weed out some of the riff raff.
I just scheduled a 7 night Royal Caribbean eastern trip out of Miami for April of next year. Hopefully, it’s different. I’ll report back.
