My sister had an Aztec. It came with a built-in ice chest. We called it the 20,000.00 dollar Coleman.

That was what I was thinking about. It was the most dangerous car also. If it got rear-ended it would explode. Good times.

My first car was a 1984 Ford Tempo. Manual Transmission. Diesel engine.
Hand me down. It got 55 miles per gallon on the highway!

I think this is the only car in the thread that I have no memory of.
ETA... Oh concept car. So never really manufactured.

But it’s top speed was 65 mph.
Everyone knows you can’t get good mileage if you aren’t doing at least 90.

I like to think of them as art deco on wheels.
It's weird that the US didn't legally allow anything other than those square or round sealed beam headlights until the mid 1980s.

First generation BMW 1-series, with its comically downsized "iconic" styling:
Second-generation Chrysler minivan, which has similar problems of proportion:

My older brother's first car was a yellow 1973 Thing. It was awesome. I freaking loved that car.

As far as recent vehicles I nominate the Lincoln mkt

The wagon version you posted is extremely rare and is awkward.
But the sedan version is IMO gorgeous and far, far head of its time. Keep in mind that this was designed in the early 1970s by a tiny, broke British car company.
You can see design elements that Cadillac, Lincoln, Jaguar, Audi, and Lexus borrowed well into the 1990s. The Lexus LS and Cadillac STS in particular sported some of those same styling features until at least 1998.
This is the cheap looking stuff that America was building in 1974 (granted these were all far more reliable than the Lagonda):
This is what the Germans were building at the time:
And the top of the line Japanese car at the time:
So yeah IMO the Aston Martin Lagonda was a knockout for her day. Just stay away from that hideous wagon version.

I actually like a lot of that boxy 80s stuff- the Lagonda, the K-car, the Fox body Fords. I was a kid in the early 1980s and I associated those cars with the future, vs. the ostentatious 1960s and 1970s cars.
On that note, I actually forgot the hands-down ugliest car ever made, the 1978 Chevy Monte Carlo:
WTF?!? I've driven some hoopties but that's just embarrassing.
ETA If you drive this, you are the saddest pimp ever.

Honestly that was above average for its time too. I just head those vinyl tops that people had back then.
It's like every car made in America then seemed like it was a recession build, but with cheap add-ons like chromed wire wheel covers and hideous white tops even though the car wasn't a convertible.

Yeah that's hideous. Looks like a minivan that's been converted into a hearse on a shoe string budget.

Both of them are very cool looking.
You'll have a hard time convincing me that the Pontiac Aztek doesn't deserve the honor here.
