The Renaissance is nice but not super close to campus. It is close to a lot of decent restaurants and shopping. Downtown somewhere near 3rd street would be a decent option also. You can walk to a bunch of restaurants and bars and don't have to worry about driving.

I've never been to a game in Baton Rouge. Will be traveling from Georgia.
You’ll want to stay in north Baton Rouge

Stay either downtown or at the Lod Cook center on campus
Rent a car (if flying)
Eat at The Chimes, Roberto’s, Louisiana Lagniappe, and Ruffino’s.
Grab a big thing of boudin from Ronnie’s and hogs head cheese from Jerry Lee’s to take back with you.
It will be cold as shiite so try mostly indoor activities like:
The Andonne Museum
Old State Capital
New State Capital
Houma’s House
Oak Alley
Maybe barhop on 3rd street after the game. Start at Jolie Pearl for oysters, then hit up happy’s and work your way down to Huey’s. Avoid City Bar.

You've come to the wrong place if you were looking for serious answers.

SOrry, I didn’t read. I thought you were coming to the basketball game tonight against Georgia.

I figured that you didn't read that correctly
Downtown is probably the best option for easy access to campus and plenty of bars and restaurants. It really has come a long way from what it was 20 years ago.
L'auberge is another good option if the OP likes to gamble and doesn't mind having to drive when they want to go other places.

People will be cordial to you before the game.
If LSU wins, no one will give you sh*t. You will get a ton of free drinks, and maybe dinner.
If LSU loses, get into your car, and out of BR ASAP.
Enjoy yourself!

Nobody's asked for pics of the wife yet? Seriously?

Meet me at the closest Sonic to campus. I'll buy you a cherry limeade and take you tailgating after I stamp a hole in your arse.
