Can one see the rating from the driver, before rating the driver?

It's there right after you request the ride.

I honestly don't see why people on here have such an issue with tipping someone who provides a service to help you.

For a service such as a taxi service, you are already paying for the ride. Why tip?

I've never been asked for a tip before, haven't been in a taxi in years though.

So why are Taxi's not out of business yet?

In BR, its because Uber has really gone downhill over the past year.

Besides the app, the service isnt much better than the cab service

If they build it into the app Idc. The entire reason I like Uber is I rarely carry cash.

They are on their way to being as shifty as cabs.

The app is the only separator. That, and they actually accept credit cards.

Cab is the clear choice now

The problem is a tip should be based on quality of service provide. People in the service industry expect a nice tip even when they provide shitty service.

Just get them to accept credit cards, and maybe hose out the cabs once in awhile.

If it's a pretty female uber driver I'll give her more than a tip.

Unfortunately for everybody involved, I doubt there's much past the tip.

Lyft has this, and it's awesome. Uber won't budge, for some reason, even though everyone wants them to. I have never, nor will I ever, directly or indirectly ask for a tip. I always refuse a cash tip initially, and only accept it if the passenger is insistent

Because they get paid a wage already and Scruffy pays a bill already.

Why should Scruffy pay more than the agreed upon amount? Why does not paying that person more make Scruffy a shitty person?

Imo, yes.

There are less drivers now which has the surge pricing much more frequent. Plenty of the drivers have nice/new cars but plenty of them are driving pieces of junk. Cars have been dirty much more now.

Uber changed the rates and are now really screwing the drivers so they are losing the better drivers with the quickness.

I will not be paying any tips.

Last I checked I have a 5.0 and 4.9 rating between Uber and Lyft on hundreds of trips.

This story is a non story.

What's at stake if you don't tip? Well, your rating as a rider could take a serious hit if you start stiffing drivers. And after a while, you may wonder why no drivers accept your trip requests.

Wrong. If a driver asks me for a tip he/she is getting one star and if a driver falls below 4.5 stars Uber fires them. I am sure there are a lot of people that will do the same so drivers that ask for tips won't be drivers for long.

Because I don't want to tip roofers, plumbers, teachers, doctors, mechanics, retail store workers, bank tellers...etc. All of whom "provide a service to help you"
