Like, if they never said anything, I would not assume uber was pro-nazi.

Dude, let's take an Uber.

Nah, I'm boycotting them. Deleted the app.

Why?

They spoke out against Nazis.

So... are you guys missing the whole point that their name is german so they're trying to separate themselves from naziism, or just ignoring that fact?

I got that email today. Deleted the app shortly thereafter. Lyft arrives just as fast and didn't send me an email.

It's always heartening to know that a bunch of rich white tech nerds are willing to stand up to imaginary demons that don't affect their lives in any way.

You'd think they would have enough internal damage control to deal with first

But whatever floats their boat

It wasn't the neo-nazi statement but moreso the "more white supremacy demonstrations" line that made me chuckle and then delete their app. they say no hate but only denounce one side what's going on. I never understand how large companies like this pick political sides so publicly. makes no sense.

I'd think it would be the opposite:

"Dear OT Baller,
Uber is so disappointed by the tragedy in Charlottesville, that we promise to make our services available to all future Neo-Nazi demonstrations. The last thing we want is for them to be driving themselves around.
Sincerely,
- Uber"
