Along with gay plot lines and overly sexualized tv shows and movies, one can ask, "What does this do to further or layout the plot line?" and the answer is almost always: it doesn't.

Chinese version won’t have it. Surprised Disney didn’t just provide a similar cut.

I am quite full of sin, but there’s no denying what the Christian holy book says about homosexuality. I don’t judge, but that doesn’t mean I have to agree with the role it’s taking on in our society.

Because that was socially acceptable and natural. Homosexuality is still tabu in the majority of the worlds communities and while pride marches/months may have moved the needle some, it still has a long way to go before it is at critical mass. Until that time inserting that into a children's cartoon isn’t natural, its just forced to further a political agenda and therefore inappropriate.

Proves this is a publicity stunt. THe movie wasn't getting enough "buzz" so they figured getting it banned by a country would get some headlines.
Anecdotally, I have a kid in the target demo and neither of us even knew a Buzz Lightyear spinoff was even coming out.
Now we do.
