I always thought St. Paul's was the Jesuit of the Northshore and Spring Hill was the Loyola of Mobile. These are expensive private schools right? St. Paul's is $10k and Spring Hill $40k. It's not like this guy is from the hood. Do thugs really go to college? Especially one with $40k tuition plus dorm fees. This dude is just a spoiled f'd up rich kid like that kid from Curtis who was randomly shooting people or the Menendez bros.

Friend told me that Mark Spicer’s dad is a minister in Covington at Faith Bible Church. A Very well respected man.
Anyone know more on this?

It’s true. Good family. One bad egg.

Seems like everyone missed the part where he was found to be in possession of a stolen gun yesterday as well (likely the murder weapon)...
This waste of oxygen may have been talented enough to garner scholarships to prestigious schools, but that doesn't mean he isn't still a piece of shite thug. He's been caught with drugs and now has killed someone, likely with a stolen gun. He's a piece of shite, regardless of family stature or connections.
I hope he's killed in prison and it's a long, slow, painfully torturous process.

This is really bizarre.
Grew up in a spirutual home, went to catholic schools and now he’s going to jail for a 1st degree capital murder likely to face the death penalty.
Kids grow up and make their own decisions and you just hope they stay in bounds. This kid went way off track.

Who are you mad at in this thread? I don't see anyone really defending the kid or saying he's not a POS.

I think originally this was a real easy puzzle. Bad kid shoots police, put his arse in jail and inject him with poison.
Ordinarilly we wouldn’t give two flushes about this kid.
But
Now it’s a bit confusing. Kid grew up with a structure both parental and spiritual. Good schools. Father is a minister. Hung out with law abiding kids.
Then something happens and he goes astray. Way astray.
Kills a well respected mandeville officer. So many mourning. Sadness all around.
Seeing this kid’s good upbringing just adds another element to the incident that makes us all wonder.
So what the hell caused this kid to go south?
Nature vs nurture in play
No one wants to diminish the loss of the officer though. It also feels kinda like we lost a potentially good kid too.

One of John Bel’s liberation class? Sounds right.

Governor’s Justice Reinvestment Reform
He released a bunch of criminals a while back, most of them have already been arrested again

I don’t think he was in jail. Just one drug arrest.

Lol no. I’m still drunk.
I’m not advocating that anyone go easy on him.
Notice I said “lost” and not “going to lose”.
He’s already been given every opportunity. He blew it.
Just seeing the background of this kid creates a strange picture. Nature vs nurture.
He’s doomed though.
And I certainly appreciate our officer’s who put themselves in harms way.

Two families to pray for here.
Sad all around but it’s part of humanity.

They can both be charged with first degree murder, if the DA wants to. The aggravated flight is a felony so any death which occurs during the commission of a felony can be pinned on everyone involved in the original crime . It will be interesting to see how they proceed against the second person.

He played Club rugby for Spring Hill. I doubt there was some big scholarship for that.
