I don't have any toys except for an old boat I was given by my FIL. No pool, no expensive clothes, electronics or cars or huge vacations to Europe, etc.

Me either. I don't have 3 kids either. 1 grown and out of house and 1 at home.

0% chance you make $175k/year as a retail pharmacist unless you're living in an expensive, big city. I know many pharmacists.

And money isn't everything. 40k paycut above $100k isn't terrible if you're decent managing money. Plus always room to make more within the company.

I can’t give up a certain amount a year because i would have to change a bunch of stuff in my life in order to have a job like that.

40k is a lot to give up

135k instead of 175k

Christ am I going to have to read through this whole thrEad to hear what job you turned down and which you kept?

175 vs 145 is not THAT big of a difference in that range. I am in sales so I fluctuate higher than than and lower than that and never have a huge swing of lifestyle or cash on hand.

If it was the dream job, you wouldn't have blinked.

Current job: retail pharmacy which is a hellscape
All of the pharmacists I've spoken with say they hate retail. Is it just dealing with the public or something else?

College dropout but has a decent job. The one at home is in private school which might as well be college though

Retail is widely hated. Pharmacy has a limited number of jobs -- it comes down to hospital, retail, or working for a pharmaceutical company. Hopsital/pharmaceutical is very competitive.

I'm paying about 20k for private school each year. I suppose those dollars represent my missing toys.

I was thinking of encouraging one of my kids to take a look at it. What are your thoughts on it becoming automated in the next 30 years?

I'm paying 12k + aftercare. We do it voluntarily though. We could move to the burbs and commute but we like not spending the time in traffic.

I leave home at 6:55 and I'm sitting at my desk at 7:10 usually. The wife's commute is 5 minutes. That's worth money to us.

Or, and hear me out, we leave Louisiana because we want to make great money at good jobs and drive on smooth roads paid for by a functioning government.

I can hold my guns and bow just fine baw
