I'm currently truck shopping. Looking for a used '12-'14 model. I sold my '05 F-150 recently for 3k, had 170k miles and some engine problems.
Not trying to start a huge debate. But is paying a few extra K for the Tundra worth it? I'm trying to stay around $30k. I've been partial to Ford, but the Tundra has me intrigued since I want to own it for 10+ years at minimum.
Basically, is the the Toyota hype worth it?

I love my Tundra.

Previous truck was a Tacoma.

Tundra.

I was shopping for a '14 used. Everything I found had 30-50k miles on it for only 2-3k less than a brand new 2016. Ended up buying new in July because of it. I love it and don't regret it at all.

I own a 2010 F-150 and like it, but I would go with a Tundra.

The Tundra will be more reliable. The interior sucks though.

I have a Tundra. I love everything about it except for MPG.

I've owned several Tundras. They are great trucks although the fuel mileage sucks. Currently in an F150 and love it. Couldn't find a Tundra with the options I wanted in my price range and was kinda ready for something different. Can't go wrong either way but IMO the Toyota vehicles are the gold standard.

Yes.

We've owned 2 Tundras and my father in law has a 2008 Crewmax. We replaced our first one with another and my father in law is shopping for a new Crewmax now.

I wouldn't let the decision keep you up at night. Both will be solid for 10 years. The Ford Ecoboost would be more fun on a daily basis, have a better passing gear, and get somewhat better fuel economy but the Tundra engine is fine too.

Tundra is ugly as hell though.

I have purchased both in the last 4 years and driven them extensively. For pulling my 22ft bay boat, nothing compares to the 3.5L V6 Eco in my 2016 F150.

Both are nice trucks.

Such a flawed argument. If they were as reliable as they claim then this number would have driven the other trucks completely out of the market instead of actually adding competition with the Titan, Ridgeline, Tundra, and Avalanche all coming in the last decade or so. So it means 40 years of the same people enjoying the reaming they're getting from a company.

Tundra. They are very good, very sturdy trucks.

If you come from a POS Ford, it will be like stepping off of a bass tracker onto the Queen Mary 2.
