TulaneLSU if you like the 1928 Book of Common Prayer then you need to seek out a reformed Episcopal Church. My friend did and he said that they really stress prayer and the life that they advocate you to try and live is more pious and more structured than a regular Episcopal Church. They do not agree with many of the Episcopal Church's current practices such as ordaining women as priests. My friend told me that the reform church is the way the Episcopal Church was before all of their current practices came into effect.

Those are "skyscrapers?"

I know that it is technically not a skyscraper but I am disappointed that you did not include the impressive new library on Read Rd.

I get the shtick but damn I can't believe you put that much time into it.

What’s the story with the castle? Always wondered, but never looked into it.

It looks like some expat Soviet architects were allowed to run free for a decade or 2 back in the 70's/80's.

The best part of waking up for me is not Folgers in my cup. It is a cup of hot tea in one hand and my Bausch & Lomb magnifying glass in the other as I peruse the Oxford English Dictionary. That of course, is after reading at least ten chapters in the Bible, praying, and worshipping through the 1928 edition of the Book of Common Prayer.

Rent in this facility is an amazingly low $11/square foot/year! I am seriously mulling putting the headquarters for the TulaneLSU Poorboy Tours of New Orleans in this magnificent masterpiece. If only they would fill in the Industrial Canal and pave it so I could get there easil

For over 50 years, beginning in the 1960s, Folgers was America’s biggest coffee seller. New Orleans and this plant are a big reason for that. Folgers initially was a San Francisco company, but shipping to New Orleans from Central and South America was much cheaper than to San Fran. So in 1960, the company chose to begin building this roasting facility on the Industrial Canal. Coffee ships had easy access through both the Mississippi River and the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MRGO). In 2010, the company invested $70 million expanding this facility. I love the smell and I like the look of the building from the Highrise, treacherous though it may be.
As a former Folgers employee, I have some corrections to make for you...
Although your caption is correct, somewhat, the building you pictured is NOT the building that Folgers built in the 60's when it moved to New Orleans. I'm not 100% sure when Folgers purchased that location on the industrial canal. I think it was in the early to mid 80s maybe.
The first Folgers location is actually on Old Gentilly Rd, almost directly across the street from NASA.
Actually, the building you pictured in #11 is the back side of part of the Main Folgers plant.
That picture was taken from Chef Highway. The Folgers plant is very close to Chef at that point which is near where Old Gentilly and Chef meet.
Here's the main plant location. You can see Chef Hwy just north of the plant and NASA just Southwest.

Dear Friends, for your attention, I wish to present you three additional buildings.
It’s moments like this that make his posts so enjoyable.
Once I have worked myself through the highs and lows of the top 10. The tension building up to “who will be #1?” And then finally getting there - then having that disappointing moment of knowing the list is over.
Then, boom!
Three more.
Thanks so much for this list. I will reread at lunch today with one of my coworkers who needs a pick me up.

Thank you, dear friend, for the correction. I have updated my letter with your invaluable insights.

Damn the East has so many abandoned and blighted buildings. It is such a sad sight for a once up-and-coming area.

Thank you for another good read. Please consider a post on the top ten mayor’s of NO. Your take would be interesting and informative.

Every time I see a parent fretting over their kid being diagnosed with autism I tell them not to worry because I know a guy named TulaneLSU that leads a useless, but interesting, interesting life.
