What if it started off as a typical college 'after party' and they were like 'sure! come on over. we got some booze and weed. blah blah' then one of the guys gets handsy and shite escalated from there.
TLDR It may not have been as shady and pre-meditated like it seems. Still VERY fricking bad. Just maybe impulsive.

This story has bit of a fraternity house aspect to it. I can distinctly remember getting a phone call at my apartment on a Sunday night about two girls at the house who were taking on all comers. The difference from this story is that they were willing participants (actually, they instigated the whole affair) and didn't call the cops after it was over.

This happened at the girls apt, not a fraternity house. My point is that if a fraternity brother lucked into a couple of willing participants, a late night drunken phone call to bring over one more guy might lead to six ringing the doorbell.

It could be white dudes because there have been incidents like this involving white guys before, but based on what we usually see and hear on the news around these parts, it would be a little surprising.
