I member. A group of us stayed up in this thread and heard aboot your tree going down, then you lost power for a month.

I believe Brohawk went out and cut the tree right before the storm.

Correct. We were under water for 2 weeks before the storm, it receded, then under water for 1 month after. Good times. The tree was cut and jimmyrigged the generator after day 3 of no AC. Might as well live in Russia.

I take that back, I love FL.

Sorry to hijack the thread…I’ve lived in BR my whole life (49 years), my wife and I are very seriously looking to move to Naples. Just yesterday I was comparing the mayor and city council of Naples to the mayor and city council of BR. I’m very jealous of your location.

I grew up in Florida, moved away when I married and just moved back to retire a few years ago. I was concerned I wouldn’t enjoy it, but I love it here.

#Elsa is lashing #Barbados now— just had a 77 mph wind gust! The
@53rdWRS
recon plane is almost there for the first real look inside the storm.

If you are retired, it is amazing. Clean, crime-free & beaches. The food is catered to all of the NE, Canadian & OH people who live here, so I just learned to cook my own LA food. But, it really is awesome. My drive to work is like going through a resort, everything is perfectly maintained. It is like Stepford. You will love it!

If it stays on current path looks like we get more rain plus wind. Hopefully wind wont be to bad because we have gotten rain like the last week straight and more this week coming. Start to worry about trees after a week straight of rain then wind.

Me too. Same thing happened last year with all the storms that bypassed the panhandle, leaving us with tons of rain.

We got one big gust and a huge pine tree next to our house toppled over.

INB4 boohoo or serves you right for having pines near your house.

Yup. The Orlando Sentinel is calling it the first hurricane of 2021.

Concerning morning trends with #Elsa. Last's night's large convective burst was able to wrap around the vortex & tighten up the core significantly as seen from #Barbados radar.

A @53rdWRS plane will be in the storm to assess the in-situ intensity shortly.

Wasn't expecting to see a hurricane this morning.

06z GFS is pretty much the same with track and intensity. It is a little weaker for the FL landfall at 977mb vs 970mb on the 00z. Same Cuban landfall and still shading a bit closer to Jamaica than to Haiti/DR. Land interaction still doesn't weaken it much, and the GFS has been consistent on that.
