We had these when I was a kid in the 80s. Use to be in addition to standard Halloween trick or treating. Church put it on.

It's been around for a very long time. It only grows in popularity each year so is now getting more attention.

I remember attending one over 18 years ago on a Halloween night in Florida.

Legacy of Entitlement.

The vestiges of Sherpas and Bantus and like folk to carry entitled persons' luggage.

We've been doing it for at least five years.
It's great because they don't schedule it on the same nights as Halloween so the kids get to dress up and go hunt candy two times now.
Our school has about 30 parents who park cars and decorate them like crazy for trunk or treat.
Add in a dj, free food and beer and it's a good time.
Can't figure out why the baws on here get their panties knotted up about it

My wife is going to do one at my kid's pre-school today. It doesn't replace trick or treating, it's just a little party for the kids at the school this afternoon.

Been happening at churches for maybe 10 years or so. Just another way for kids to celebrate Halloween without focusing on a pagan theme. It's a great outreach for a church to the local community too. Usually tied in with a fall festival. We had one at our church yesterday and it was great with lots of kids participating in costume contest, a chili cook-off, inflatables for kids to play, music, a hay ride, trunk or treat and food/drinks for all. Lots of fun on a beautiful day!

Last year the DJ was a little heavy on the late 90's cash money songs.

Probably came from more rural churches. Which is what I went to in the 80s. Gave us non subdivision kids a way to trick or treat without busing into someone else's neighborhood.

Although the one big neighborhood where I lived seemed to love it, most of the families there went big and loved all the attention their neighborhood got on Halloween and for Christmas lights.

Healing Place has an awesome one where the kids go around putting their parent’s money in different tithe boxes. For instance one box will be for new purple lights, one will be for the Pastor’s wardrobe, one to hire more accountants, etc.... The kids get to have fun on halloween with out worshiping the devil.
