Since Louisiana has the highest rate in the country, can someone get the Governor to get MAGA to send some to Louisiana.

Concerning the z-pac, how is an antibiotic supposedly affecting a virus? I haven’t researched.

The Zpac is for a secondarial bacterial pneumonia.

Azithromycin has anti-inflammatory activity.

That is the only thing Scruffy can think of.

Azithromycin is not the best for that, unless the secondary bacterial infection is a unique bacteria outside of most other viral associated secondary pneumonias.

The article is on thegatewaypundit. Said trials start Tuesday in NYC. I suspect the z-pak is to fight the bacteria if there is any present in the lungs. Dont know for sure.

It's not actually on the local protocol, but that's what I had heard it was being used for at times for outpatients.

Some studies have also shown it has an antiviral effect in bronchial epithelial cells.

The old copd exacerbation treatment guidelines included a macrolide with treatment, possibly for this reason.

I haven't seen it anywhere else except on thegatewaypundit. Hopefully it is true and if they do start Tuesday, we should know results by Monday or Tuesday of next week. Hopefully it works cause I think we are in serious trouble in Louisiana.

an interesting dilemma from a stewardship perspective ... maybe the z-pack will work but then the longterm resistance built up by the pneumonia bacteria due to everyone using z- packs

Like I already said. They are using those meds in NOLA as I type this. They are not waiting for any study. There is a protocol being shared by major hospitals throughout the area.
