In the past I’d switch companies in a hot second. Problem with doing that now is that my home and auto are bundled with FB, and it’s becoming really difficult to get homeowners in south Louisiana.

Yep you nailed it. Just got finished shopping. My home insurance went up 30% but remarkably my car insurance basically stayed the same. However only 3 companies quoted me both home and auto (statefarm, Allstate, and geico). I’m currently with progressive and none could beat the bundled cost I got from progressive even with a 30% increase in home insurance. I couldn’t find any other companies to quote me home and I live in BR, been in my house for 10 years and never flooded or had a claim. So looks like I’m stuck with progressive for now. Seems like the days of shopping insurance may be over atleast for now in Louisiana until they can figure out this home insurance mess.

It’s because the price of the cars went up this shouldn’t be shocking

I could actually buy the exact same truck that I bought at this time last year for a bit less now.

How about 3 years ago? It takes time for price increases to flow through into insurance rates

Replacement cost have tripled in the last 3 years.

i had the same conversation with my insurance guy at farm bureau about 2 months ago.

My wife had a wreck and it was not her fault and State Farm was the other guys insured. i saw the iteimized bill from the repair shop and it was stupid.

Example a little panel inside the car that covered up some screws to access a tail light in the trunk....literally 4"X 4" plastic panel = $97.50

Fair enough, but as the post below yours noted, we are being absolutely gouged on auto replacement parts.

Tail light assemblies now cost as much as a cheap car - maybe if people stopped buying vehicles like that, the costs would come down.
