I don't really GAF anymore. I don't live in BR and the only time I go there is for LSU baseball. Let the whole fricking city crash and burn. This is what they deserve after voting for that idiot.

I feel the same way. I'm gone come summer. I'll drive in for a few LSU games a year and that's about it.
Easy for me since I don't have family in the area.

Curt Eysink isn't a "very qualified" individual.
He's only gotten the positions he's worked in because of white male privilege. He possesses nothing more than a Bachelor's Degree from LSU.
Go to the Louisiana Attorney General's Office and find the number of white men working under Jeff Landry with a Bachelor's who have five and six figure jobs barely out of college solely based on political contributions.

This is pretty damn embarrassing for Mayor SWB.
Yes, I think it's obvious she hired this guy because of his skin color.
But I think the real red flag here is that a CAREER Baton Rouge politician, who served in the Metro Council, the House of Representatives, and the State Senate and spent her entire life making contacts in local political circles is unable to find someone locally that she trust to serve as her number 2 in command.
Hell, I am not a likeable person on most days and usually piss most people off but even I could find someone locally that I have known and that I believe would serve my interest.
It's not like Troy Bell was some homerun hire. The guy at least admitted to some of his previous failures in small cities. And she choose him over all the local contacts she's presumably made in government throughout her career?
I think we are just starting to scratch the surface on SWB's lack of leadership.

She won for the same reason the Democrats claim that Trump beat Clinton....a weak opponent. It's not like the white voters within the city limits of BR supported her. She only received about 25% of the white vote. The bigger issue is that there was a very poor turnout of white voters from south BR. Broome portrayed herself as one thing during the election when she really had a very different agenda.
