It's going to be a rainy drive with a bit of a breeze. Nothing ridiculous.

If you can leave at 1pm I think you will be okay, just get on the road asap, the worse stuff will be evening to tomorrow

You're not screwed, you are just going to be driving in the rain most of your trip.

Also, have we come to a collective conclusion on pool etiquette before a storm? Empty / Leave full. This is my #1 fear during Hurricane season
If you have a gunite or fiberglass pool I would leave it full.
If you have a liner with no real shallow ends (i.e. Mine has an 11 inch deep ledge), then you can let out an inch or two. If you have a shallow end don't let any water out and just waste the water if it gets too high
If you have an overflow drain you should be fine.
I also recommend underground drainage to a sump pump to pull excess ground water from the pool (put this in by the base of the pool before you cover it in dirt/sand/concrete.
However there is no need to drain the damn thing as all that does is increase the risk of a structural event.

Guys this isn't a crazy storm event. There will be rain and some Gusty winds. You can drive in it. We have worse thunderstorms

Lots of folks seem to be panicked. Are we even going to get anything from the system today? The center of the storm isn't even expected to make landfall until some time Thursday unless it picks up speed.

It's a rain maker, and some people are a little uneasy about a heavy rain threat.
It's a big system, so it'll be raining off and on through Thursday along the northern gulf coast. Some areas near the gulf might get some TS force winds.

Not panicked but live in a low area and I am not going through the worry of water possibly getting in my house again.
6 sandbags eliminates worry, which is totally worth it to me.
As far as some people panicking, I think its understandable we just went through a terrible flood less than a yr ago.....

Attn Jim Cantore:
There is a poster on the OB whose father just finished building his master piece but failed to finish the project up by adding duct tape and zip ties. It is widely expected this high tech building will experience an imminent collapse from this dangerous and wretched storm known as Tropical Storm Cindy. All the weather channel has to do is station Jim with a camera on the shoreline for no more than 15 minutes to capture an explosive and high flying building when TS Cindy's winds hit 10 mph.

...from a slow moving tropical system that didn't have its shite together enough to get a name.
I'm not seeing the same level of concern from the likes of RDS DC that I saw last year, though, so that's comforting.

Would this storm close schools?

Probably, but only because it wouldn't be worth the risk to have busses full of kids riding around in a named storm.

No worries Houma - Terrebonne , On cue, Martin Folse is live on HTV to bring us reports and updates. No word on when the stick comes out, but it's gold when he opens phone lines...
