I just bought a SONOS Playbar for my new LG OLED. Thought about going with a Dolby Atmos setup, but decided I’d rather start with SONOS and build a collection. I read a lot of your posts about Philips Hue and shite and I have a lot of the same tech setup going on (although not as extensive as you). My question is this: what’s the best way to add to the Playbar to achieve a solid home theatre experience in my living room, while also adding Play:1/5 etc around the house? I’m definitely adding the Sub to my Playbar setup but just wanted some insight into what someone else would recommend to achieve decent surround sound in my living room and also have a speaker in my bedroom
re: TV experts, will be needing a new TV. Few questions for one in a moderately bright room...

I bought the LG OLED 65C7 a few weeks ago and it is in a room facing a wall of windows so brightness/glare was a large concern for me too. It’s just like with any screen, I sometimes have to lower the blinds if the sun is directly shining through. Otherwise, I have it slightly tilted on a wall mount which seems to mitigate any glare. All I can say is, the OLED is the best picture quality I’ve ever seen and I don’t think the differences in OLED, LED etc will matter enough

So I tried applying for the Bestbuy Credit Card which gets me 10% back in BestBuy points that I was going to put towards speakers. They only approved me for $1k line of credit. I guess that rules out that option since the tv is $2699? If I apply for the Amazon Prime Credit Card will I get rejected since I just applied for the Best Buy one too? Or what could I say in the application to ensure I get $3k line of credit to cover the tv? Sorry I guess I’m poor or something

Yes I am a Prime Member. When you purchase through Amazon, how do you include the extended warranty and installation?
Purchasing LG OLED TV
Posted by T8KIT3ASY on 12/31/17 at 12:17 am
I’m buying an LG OLED C7P TV for my new apartment and have a few questions. I found the best deal on Massdrop at $2299 for the 65”. After reading up on Massdrop, I’m not sure if it’s worth the savings. Apparently they aren’t the best company to deal with and if something happens to go wrong with my TV it could be a pain in the arse working with customer service.
Or, I could spend $2699 at BestBuy and have a trusted customer service and return policy should anything happen. I know burn-in and other problems are not uncommon. So, has anyone bought through Massdrop? Is it worth the $400 savings?

Some solid advice in here, thanks. I’m going to look for a house in midtown or apartments downtown. Looking forward to Mardi Gras as well
I’ll be working downtown and I’m looking to spend less than $1500/mo. Found a nice house near downtown Fairhope, but I’m not sure if the commute is worth it over the bridge. I’ve found some downtown Mobile Apartments like the Marine St Lofts and The Towers at Ryan Park which seem alright.
I was about to pull the trigger on Fairhope but thought I should give Mobile a shot before making my decision.

Working in Mobile, AL

I’m starting a new job in Mobile after New Years and I am looking for advice on where to live. Either going to commute from Fairhope or find somewhere in Mobile. I just know it doesn’t have the best reputation and I’m not sure where the decent places are for a 25 year old guy looking to be close to the action. Any advice is appreciated. TIA
I live in Gulf Shores about 5 miles north of the gulf, what should I be expecting? The "wind speed probability" map shows me getting 80-90 mph winds. Haven't seen the storm surge map yet, but am I in for a ride?
Does anyone know what kind of damage was done in Mexico around Cancun/Yucatan area?
I'm supposed to fly to Orlando tomorrow and fly home Friday for a business trip. Should I cancel?
re: Who here could live in a beach town full time?

I just moved to Gulf Shores to work and enjoy the beach. Eventually I want to move onto the back bay in the orange beach area, but right now I'm 5 minutes from the beach and about to buy a Hobie Kayak to start fishing. Traffic is terrible right now but so is traffic in BR.
I can't leave work until after lunch so I can be on the road around 1PM. How screwed am I?
How dangerous would it be to drive from BR to Gulf Shores today?
My girlfriend is driving from Baton Rouge to Gulf Shores tomorrow. What would be the best time for her to make that trip? Or is that a bad idea?

I ended up booking a table for 2 in the area with views of the Whitehouse. From what I understand it's separate from the Lounge area but I wanted to assure we had a table and we plan on hanging there for a while before we head to Warner Theater for Tedeschi Trucks.

Do I need to reserve a table for the POV Lounge if we are just grabbing drinks? I see on their website where you can pick your table in the area with views of White House or Washington Monument
Washington D.C. Suggestions
Posted by T8KIT3ASY on 2/18/17 at 12:26 am
Going to D.C. next weekend for the first time with the girlfriend (no pics). Staying at the Watergate Hotel and plan on doing the National Mall, Smithsonian, and other museums as well as Georgetown bars along the riverfront. Looking for evening/nighttime activities. Thinking about hockey game one night but open to other ideas. Any cool shows along the lines of Blue Man Group or something like that? Also looking for some nice dinner recommendations if you've got them. We're both 24 if that helps.
TIA
TIA
Thanks I just ordered it :nana:
PSA Pistol Upper
Posted by T8KIT3ASY on 1/31/17 at 2:15 pm
Palmetto State Armory is running a daily deal on a 8.5'' Pistol length 300 AAC upper for $229. I know you need to go through all the hoops with the NFA for SBR's, but if I bought the "PSA complete classic pistol lower" as well would it be legal since technically it is a pistol, not a SBR. I have it added to my cart and everything and it shows the upper being sent to my home address. Just wanted to make sure the ATF won't be showing up at my door. Going to keep it as a pistol and buy a "stabilizing brace" to make sure it stays on target. TIA

re: Brother wants me to go all the way to Cali for him to propose

The real question is how did you get a job with your Petroleum Engineering degree? I graduate in May and it's not looking good.
Also, go to CA for the proposal, it's a free trip bro.
