Tried about six runs, fell 72 times. I’ll never go again. Beers in the lodge is as close as I’ll ever get.

Skiing is easy. Snowboarding on the other hand is something that you have to commit time to. Your knees and wrist will never hurt as bad as your first day snowboarding

Baseball, football and basketball, but now I’m a 40+ year old dude way past my playing days.

How old are you? I wouldn't want to start skiing at my age now.
The girl in that gif is getting smoked by that ski rack. That had to hurt.

East coast or west coast?
Ice skiing is lots harder than fluffy snow skiing.

If you were athletic and have any sense of balance, skiing greens should be relatively easy to learn.
I learned to ski in fourth grade. For kids it’s simple and awesome. I was skiing backwards the first day. Now at 43 I’m a very nervous skier because I have the constant worry of shredding a knee or just falling in general because falling as a kid was fun; falling as an adult you have to sit there for a minute and take inventory of what all you hurt.
I tried snowboarding for a day or two. It was fun but tougher and I’m pretty sure I concussed myself on one of the slopes.

I broke both of my thumbs skiing (one boarding and one skiing)…many years apart.

There are a few things that if you’ve never done them before the age of 35 you should probably just take a lifetime pass. Skiing and LSD are on this list.

Never felt like I could control my speed or had proper balance. Very bad combination.
I have RA, I’ll be down for the count for a few days.

I started skiing in my 40's. I'll never be really good at it, but I have as much fun as anyone else on the hill.
If there was anything at all about the experience that you liked, try again, with a beginner's lesson (if you didn't do that). For someone coming from other sports experience, there's a lot about skiing that is non-intuitive and will put you right on the ground.
A couple lessons will give you some tips and tricks to overcome that, and give you a better chance to stay on your feet and in control, and maybe discover more of why a lot of us like it.

Boarding takes a commitment to being in a lot of pain for the first several trips.
