Central Community Schools have improved and largely lead to the closure of St Louis King of France and Redemptorist private schools.

Everyone wants to send their kids to UHigh nowadays in BR, but when I was in school, UHIGH wasn't really a factor.

Private school feel without private school prices.

Was this ever actually discussed? Because honestly, I think the school could have not only survived, but thrived in SBR.

Who owns the name, colors, etc? Is there anyway if could ever come back? There's so much history with that school.

Send your kids to any McDonough school in NOLA. If they come out alive, the remainder of their lives will be gravy.

Better hurry. McDonough was a white guy so they'll be changing the school names soon.

As far as trending NOLA schools, Lusher is not yet comparable to Ben Franklin but it is closing the gap. Each year, I am seeing more smart Lusher kids stay there, whereas they used to transfer to Franklin in 9th grade.

In Metry, Thomas Jefferson and Haynes are pulling in some really bright kids. I think they are hurting schools like Rummel and Chappelle.

Haynes has its share of knuckleheads, it's not as exclusive, despite the test-in, as they want you to believe.

The only thing UHigh wins in BR is the price category. Athletics and Academics still belong to CHS.

Trending down- Shaw(I thought it couldn't get any worse)
Holy Cross is struggling.
Rummer had dipped quite a bit, but I haven't heard in the last year or two if anything changed.

Brother Martin and Jesuit are doing great.

And yes, I keep hearing the Lusher is actually getting some of private school kids to transfer in.

U High didn’t have to win its first FB state title w/ a split playoff system.

LOL no.

Maybe not "stuggling", but they tend to be trending down from that nice bump they got after the new school opened.

No kids that go to the grammar schools that I follow go to Holy Cross.
My friend works at the school and said he's not feeling good at all about what is going on.

One of their good math teachers left to go to one of the girls schools because HC couldn't pay him well enough anymore.

I don't know what the enrollment at Holy Cross is currently, but I am seeing a decent amount of kids going there from Lakeview, the Lakefront, Gentilly and Metairie. Lots of Holy Cross signs in Lake Vista. I think they are doing pretty well and are well positioned to do well in the future. They are certainly not at the level of Jesuit and Brother Martin, but they are doing better than the rest of the Catholic NOLA area schools.

The demographic of Metairie that was feeding Rummel has become very OLD.
there are still a ton of high school aged boys in Metairie though, they are just all going to HC, BM and Jesuit

if your friend isn't impressed with the new administration there, the problem might be with your friend

On the other hand, Rummel has fallen off a cliff.... used to be in the 1300-1400 range 20 years ago. Lot of men in Jefferson Parish went to that school, and they aren't sending their sons there.

3 Rummel examples:

--Brother in law graduated from Rummel. He and my sister send their 2 boys to Jesuit.

-- Guy I know played football for Rummel back in the day. There was no question where his son (senior starter on the the team this year) was going; his dad's alma mater.

-- Younger brother of my best friend; he graduated public school system in Jeff Parish. Said no way was he sending his kids to public high school today. His son goes to Rummel.

Catholic has more state titles and state runner ups in the last five years than any other school in the state.
