Trending Schools Through the Years: NOLA & BR Edition

This isn't necessarily a "which school (private or public) is best" in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, but feel free to chime in on that as well.
Rather, which schools in those two cities specifically have you seen improve through the years, are trending up or have always been good places to get an education? For example, maybe a local school was newer during your day, but now it's developed into a strong academic institution decades later.
Perspective from recent graduates or current parents is appreciated.

McKinley High School continues to be a beacon of educational excellence.
I see many of Baton Rouge's future leaders coming from that school.

In the actual city of BR, Lee probably. But on a more serious note St. George High School

Lusher has a pretty good reputation in NOlA; also Ben Frank

My son just transferred from Baton Rouge Magnet High School to Lee Magnet High School for Sophomore year. He made straight A's his freshman year at BRMHS but wanted to take advantage of the STEM program at Lee and get away from all of the Social Justice Warriors at BRMHS. Plus Lee is starting a baseball program this year and he wants to play. Lee Magnet High School is legit.

If you did, it would explain a helluva lot.

U High is a great school without the religious bullshite that comes with some other places that shall remain nameless.
BRHS has been a good school for a long time but didnt always have the Ivy League stepping stone reputation it does now.
Ben Franklin is a great school if you can take the pressure.

De La Salle has come back from the dead twice. Once in the early 90s when they accepted girls, and another time in the years after Katrina where the numbers were down to almost 300.
On the other hand, Rummel has fallen off a cliff. Their enrollment has absolutely fallen down. I can't speak if that's due to their education, or rising prices, or improving public school / magnet options, or more kids going to Catholic school in the city. My guess is all of the above.
But it's below 700 now... used to be in the 1300-1400 range 20 years ago.
Lot of men in Jefferson Parish went to that school, and they aren't sending their sons there.

The demographic of Metairie that was feeding Rummel has become very OLD.

Everyone wants to send their kids to UHigh nowadays in BR, but when I was in school, UHIGH wasn't really a factor.
It's always been there, but it has trended to be the place to send your kids in BR.

It's the best school in the state IMO. High Quality academics balanced with very good athletics at an affordable price.

How many National Merit semifinalists have they had in recent years?

I've definitely noticed the athletics from afar, but have the actual buildings improved? I remember the school looking pretty mediocre, have they made any major renovations?
