So, I have a job that requires me to be gone for days at a time, and without a vehicle.

I'm looking for hobbies (possibly even lucrative) that I can accomplish from a hotel room without any tools/tech other than a laptop.

Also, take into consideration I'm traveling with just a carry-on bag or two.

Thanks in advance

That's a decent idea. One-off the few I've considered already.

Forgive munsey ignorance, but I'll be working a lot during the day. Can this be done at night?

I’ve flown with my guitar on Southwest numerous times and they’ve always been accommodating. Not sure if you’re allowed to pick your airline or not.

I've tried, fishing with a travel pole, reading, and working out. Somehow I always end up at the hotel bar. Let me know when you find something better.

Does this include general fitness? Like pushups and stuff to stay healthy. Common problem for travelers.

If you are single, why are you not crushing it in every city?

If you are not single... what about photography? You can probably find a deal on craigslist or a pawn shop for a decent camera. You can find places within walking distance of your hotel to take pictures of scenery, etc. Even short Uber rides away, etc.

Use your laptop to not only learn about taking pictures, but also about photoshop, touching up pics, etc.

Would also serve as a nice reminder of where you have been.

Why not use the time to learn something new? Depending on what kind of education you have already earn a degree, or add a graduate degree to what you have. Almost every school from LSU to Harvard offers online learning, the key is getting your employer to pay for it.

Or, how about music, you can buy a small piano type keyboard that can be carried on a plane, that and the lessons on YouTube will have you playing piano in a short time.

I could travel with my PS4, but that's a waste of time. Time I'd rather spend learning or earning.

general fitness

Most hotels have a decent set of dumbbells and some cardio equipment. I run more often when out of town than when I'm home. I find it easy to get my exercise out of town; but still difficult to stay out of the bar afterwards.

He wanted a side gig to earn more. Gigolo maybe?
