This is the worst. I remember back in the day when I worked in the restaurant industry we had not just one travel ball team but a whole group of them come into the restaurant and after they left it was as if a tornado came through.

I'd still rather deal with travel ball teams than groups of high school kids with no parents, however. At least there is a non zero chance the travel ball parents will tip you.

You're the coach.

Since he has “Coach” in his username, it automatically means that he’s the coach of the travel ball team that he’s complaining about. You seem like a smart fella.

You’re going to closed fist punch a 10 year kid in the throat in front of his parents?

Let’s meet at the closest Sonic and I’ll record it.

What else are we supposed to do for five hours when we are 2 hours from home.

Typical Weekend:

Sat - they try to get your games back to back
Games at 10:00 am and say 12:30 pm
Get up at 6 am to drive and be ready to warm up at 9 am

Sun - Game one at 9:30am leave by 6:30am to get there on time.

Win - next game is 4:00 pm, then you get beat and cuss all the way home about having to sit out in the F%^$ing heat for five hours

Since when did it become a thing for an entire travel ball team to descend upon a restaurant in between games?

Travel ball or not, since when are you thinking kids' sports teams do NOT go out to eat at restaurants?

It wasn't travel ball(All stars Biddy and Dixie Youth baseball) but I can easily remember virtually the entire team going to dinner when we were out of town playing in tournaments, and that's going back to the late 80s/early 90s when I was in that 9-12 year old age range.

Yep, and I realized pretty quickly that doing that was a choice. My kid was getting burned out on baseball, and the whole family started dreading tournament weekends, so we shut it down. We were all much happier afterward, and nobody missed it.

Try the '70's when I was a kid... Still did the same thing...

Great poster, but this has been common for quite a while. Nothing wrong with teams sending business to locals, it's big money. I agree that the kids should not be allowed to run around like wild fools, but places that cater to this type of stuff are prime for it. Walk On's, Chili's, Dave & Busters, Hooters, BWW, sports bar and grills that allow under 18, large pizza places etc..., are made for this. If you want to avoid it go to Ruth's Chris. When I'm in one of these places, and it's not very often, and see these kids it reminds me of the good times years ago with our kids. Only one played major college baseball, but all the others have been successful in life. We taught them life lessons and let them enjoyed life !

We used to do that for soccer tournaments often like 20 years ago. This isn’t a new thing

We did travel hockey, not baseball. First tourney I went to was in Dallas, and we descended on a restaurant that had a waiting time to get in. I was all for trying another restaurant when one of the other mothers laughed at my inexperience. She told me that all we had to do was let the kids run free and the restaurant would find a way to get us in quickly in order to stop the madness. Ugh. But she was right. Just a few minutes of wait time before we were seated.
